My Motor Thread

Im going to build me a motor:D . Just a 350 .030 over with some vortec heads, and a 4x4 cam. I want a make it a good strong motor, but not over the top well Im trying not to go over the top still want the mpg and not gpm:D

Sounds like a good little project. I'll be doing that some day hopefully.

Well I'm going to make this my motor build thread. Its going to take a little bit to put to gather, but it should be worth it in the end.
here are the spec I'm shooting for but not set in stone

350, .030 over w/molly rings
cam shaft, undecided
double roller timing chain
vortec heads
roller rockers
edlebrock intake
edlebrock off road carb
headers, have some camaro ones, dont know year but will see if they fit
and dual or single exhaust not sure yet

I'm building the motor to swap with the smoking 305 I have now.
here a pic of what I started with

and some 882 heads

Thanks to BKinzey for the motor.

Not need ,for what you are building it would be a waste of your money.
I use to work at an automotive machine shop & we put out some pretty strong small blocks & alot of them were only two bolt mains. I've never personally seen a small block break a main cap . We had a guy bring in a 350 that had broken the crank at the 2nd main journal ,the cap was intact (2 bolt cap) but the block was cracked straight up the middle of the front of the block from the #1 main oil hole to the first cam bearing oil hole . Just my .02. Good luck with the build.
