My mud days are over!!

Brady i couldnt say it any better if i wanted to. That is exactly what mine if built for. If my girl rides with me, which is most of the time, i try to keep it clean. But sometimes she lets me have a little fun. I love the mud and always will.

Have you driven OVER a Ford lately?

Don't get me wrong, it was fun while I was doing it, but the cleanup totally sucks. By the way, in that pic the mud is covering my 36" swampers, is that deep for mudding? It sure felt deep to me!! I couldn't drive straight through, hit a solid mud wall, but I did back out under my own power, gotta love those Swampers!! I still like rocks

Yeah that is pretty deep. I have seen some worse. The other night a friend of mine buried his 83 Chevy pickup up to the windows. That was some deep mud. The truck runs 6 and 3 with 39.5s. That was a tough hole. I gotta give it to you though that is pretty deep.

Covering A 36" tire is deep. But depending on the bottom and the consitency of the mud it can be fun! There used to be a couple of holes on the Battlement Mesa trail that would cover my 33"s But with lockers you could drive thru no prob.Without lockers you would get stuck. Now the forest service built the trail up above the holes and blocked them off. This sucks!!But there are 2 other holes that are deep!!!!.One went over my hood!!! Almost couldn't get pulled out!!If you have seen the Rick Russell Co trails Vol.1 Then youve seen this hole when it was still frozen in spring.I am going up this trail Sat with a club should be fun.Going to have to play in the rock garden!!!!Work sucks I'm going wheeling!!!!Brady

I only clean mine when my girlfriend makes me. She says two or three weeks of riding around in a muddy truck is too much. I think it looks good. When people ask what color my truck is i usually say earth.

That reminds me of about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday nite/ early sunday morning dumb adventure. Someone dug out a 3 foot hole where it was only supposed top be 6 inches deep and it was obviously filled with water. Needless to say I needed a tow truck and the only thing Im taking in the woods now is my trike. It costed $370 for the tow. I left it runnin in the water for about an hour and a half and no water got in the motor or trans. The rear had water in it so i drained it, the pinion seal leaked and the front carpet was mud so i took it out cleaned it put new jute in and put it back in place. What a mess mud sucks, I should my user name to streetrebel or something , that whole ordeal was the dumbest thing i ever did. I coulda had my friend pull me out with his 96 blazer but had no chains. The key here is this was an unplanned adventure. Its a tough truck though It runs like the whole thing never happened. I rode this place a few times with my other trike and never encountered that but oh well live and learn, the hard way.

My last 'Mud' adventure was at a place called Strawberry Island. Its right on the banks of the Fraser river here in BC. Damn I had fun, but 2 years later I'm still cleaning the mud off. I spent the day being the tow mule for most everybody I was wheelin with as I was the only one there with recovery straps, shackles, built bumpers etc. Most of the hard parts are steep eroded banks going down into big bowls, and this is where the fun begins, because once you're in the only way out is up. No probs for ole tRusty though, when in doubt- gas her out!

The last hole of the day is a real deep mother and when we got there, there was a K10 with 40" hawgs and a burned out winch stranded in the middle, and right beside that was a 4Runner with a 350 and 42" swampers also stuck. On the far side of them the hole is deeper and on the near side it is a little shallower, and since I had done this hole a couple of times before I tried it again. Well it was a little deeper than the last time I went through, I made it about 80 feet(halfway) and sunk 'like a rock' (pun intended). After a few vain atempts in reverse I called for the strap and got yanked out. Now my pride was on the line, so hammer down and try and beat this hole!

. Well I made it another 20 feet or so and at least a foot deeper and got yanked again!

At the end of it all I had a high water (mud) line on my truck above the body side molding.

The final tally for my Mudding? well as I was leaving the power windows no longer worked, the starter quit, I broke 2 exhaust hangers and now had a wicked collector leak, all in all it looked cool/sounded horrible. I had to get a litle tug to get it re-started for the drive home (one more thing I like about a 4 speed).
I spent 2 1/2 hours at the pressure washer ($30) and I still find mud under the truck now and then. 5 months later my rear axle seals, wheel cylinders, shoes, adjusters, and every other little piece in the rear brakes was toast. The only part I could save was the drums. These brakes were only a year old so I was pretty ticked off. The starter was an easy fix, I removed it from the truck, disassembled it and just washed all the mud out of it and its worked fine ever since.
If I ever go mudding again I will completly disassemble an clean my brakes as well as wash the damn thing 3 or 4 times a week until I know there is no more mud on it antwhere.

what does (pun intended) mean? I saw that in one of the magazines and still can't figure it out...sorry for the stupid question.

10 out of 11 people prefer Jimmys over Blazers.

It was a reference to the old Chevy advertising, they used the old Bob Seger song "Like a Rock". I guess that was their answer to "Built Ford tough"
By the way its not a stupid question, just a real weak pun

I got stuck bad (6" over the bottom door on the passenger side) back on April 27, and I'm still cleaning it! This doesnt mean I'm never going through it again! Thats all we have around here, and I have fun even if foward progress is stopped

! I have removed most of the interior (im down to two seats annd a dash!), all unecasary electrical components (I cant hear the radio over the rattles anyway!) and I dont plan on fuel injection, so mud isnt a problem for me. Oh yeah, I've had a few scary situations coming out if the trails with muddy drums so my 14 bolt got disks! I like rocks a lot, but mud is fun too. Hey JD, keep that mudpit wet, the axles are going in this week and my Swampers are in the mail!

I just went wheeling Sat. with a club up the Battlement Mesa trail.Had a blast!!Had like 15 rigs.Mostly jeeps a couple of built Toys one with 35" Baja Claws and the other with 42" swampers my Blazer and a buddys long box chevy.Anyway there is a hole that drops straight down about 4 feet and the mud is over 35" tires, it has a rock dead center in the wall. Almost everybody went around but I dropped in and slammed my skidplate on the rock, floored it and came out. The Toy with 42" swampers dropped in and his fan ate his radiator. On the way back out, the other Toy which is a Four Runner with 35"s, went in trying to climb the wall and ended up with the fan eating the radiator also. The funny thing is both Toys are husband and wife. My buddy blew out his axle joint with no spares, since the axles were shot. I had to pull his truck out most of the trail. Oh, well had fun!!!!!!!!!
