My New \'72 K5

I just picked this rig up from a guy on the 67-72 Chevy truck board. It is almost 100% stock. I'm the 4th owner, and the last two each had it for just a short period. The second owner added a 4" lift and put on ralleys with 35's. The guy I bought it from took off the wheels because it is still running the 3.08 gear. Now it is back on the stock wheels & tires. The truck is in near perfect condition - no rust anywhere. The paint is excellent for being 32 years old. I would guess the top has never been off!

Holy crap /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif
You suck! What about the "other" K5????
Whats you plan for this beast??

Re: My New \'72 K5

Nice score. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I saw that one posted for sale on 67-72 board. That one is too nice to take offroad. I would keep your '69 for an offroader.

Re: My New \'72 K5

Jeeezus that's a clean truck. I see you got the Hickey auxiliary gas tanks on both sides -- I'm sure those are collector's items now. Hell, that whole TRUCK is a collector's item... it's beautiful.

If you so much as scratch it, many of us will hunt you down and kill you /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: My New \'72 K5

God that is sweet. Mine had the dual reserves like that and the PO took one out and threw it away! I sure wish my paint looked like that though. Congratulations!

Re: My New \'72 K5

Thanks guys. I'm extremely pleased. I made him an offer site unseen and it was nicer than I expected when I picked it up.

It is too nice to do any serious off roading. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to sell the '69. I don't have the room or the funds to keep them both.

For now, I'm just going to leave this one as is. I will be getting a soft top soon, but other than that, I'm just going to drive it and have some fun. Eventually, I'd like to replace the rare 16" steel wheels with some ralley wheels and maybe some 33's. The gears are 3.08's so I'll have to change those when I get bigger tires.

Re: My New \'72 K5

Well if you need the gears done let me know, and as far as the '69.
Well let me know what you want for that. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: My New \'72 K5

It is from eastern Oregon. Kept in a car port all it's life. 103K original miles.

Yukon - here's some interior pictures for ya. The front seats have been recovered and the dash pad has some cracks. I'll probably get some of the reproduction seat covers and bring them back to the stock look. It has a dealer installed AM/8 track in the dash. Unfortunately, the dealer cut the dash for it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: My New \'72 K5

MMMMMM, air conditioning, I wonder what that's like. That thing looks even tighter in those close ups.

Re: My New \'72 K5

Chris;

I was hoping to find ou over on this board too!! I think the comment on Hickey tanks is right. Hickey built a lot of stuff for these trucks back when they were new. It would be fun to get original specs on them (for gallons, etc)

Glad you like it. I still miss it!!

Enjoy! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: My New \'72 K5

Wow! Very nice. I haven't seen the side tanks like that before! Air con, looks like tilt wheel, single wall top. Good score. Ok now tell us how much you paid?

Re: My New \'72 K5

Bob, I didn't know you ventured over here too? That was the first comment I have heard on about the tanks being Hickey. I'll have to look into it a bit more and see what I can find. Definately enjoying it!

Oddly, I have such info on the Brochures page Go to the Blazer section, and there's a Hickey catalog ca. 1975... they're 13 gallons, apparently, and are on page 16.
