i just bought a 85 military blazer with the 6.2 turbo 400 and just came across a bds full 8 inch lift for 650 dollars but its for a 3/4 ton so i gotta grind off the rear spring hangers and move them back 4 inches...another thread for another time... and now im lookn at tires and will only use super swamper and i think im goin with 38x13x16 regular tsl meats there only $249 a tire...i have 3/4 ton axles from a 85 with 4.10 gears that im gonna throw under it when i install the lift soon so i need to figure out what im gonna do for rims, i heard somewhere that 15 inch rims dont fit on the 3/4 ton axles due to the brakes...is this true? i found some 15 inch cragar nomad rims for cheap on summits website but they dont show a 16 x8 in the same rim, cause i dont think a 13 inch wide tire will fit on a stock 16 inch rim
thanks for the input...also feel free to tell me what u think about my setup
im gonna try to figure out how to post pics for u guys...

I'm running the cragar soft 8s 8 lug. They are 16x8. I love them and their only 50 a piece

15s will fit on the front no problem and they will fit on the front with possible grinding. and 13 inches wide will fit nicely on a stock rim IMO.

That is what he meant to say, just to clear up confusion.

what do you guys think about my set up...theres not alot of info on the bds 8 inch lift on here prob cause it SO expensive i just got lucky. i was told by a guy on fullsizechevy.com that all i had to do to install the 56 inch springs is drop the tank drill out rivits and relocate bracket back 4 inchs... is this correct, he told me that the 52 and 56 inch springs are the same length from the front eye to the centering pin then the 4 inch difference is from the pin back so this will keep the axle and shock location in the same place... i also am wondering about the diesel with the turbo 400 and 38s with only 4.10 gears but by the gear cal. i put in that it had 31s stock and i was going to a 38 and the old gear ratio is 3.08 and it showed i need at least 3.73s so mabye the 4.10s will give alittle more power, its just crazy cause my old chevy had 35s and 4.56s so just tryn to figure things out... this will be driven on the roads but used for mud also
thanks again for the replys
oh and is anyone close to me here in small town U.S.A.

I ran the exact same tires on my 6.2 '90 K5. They are a little on the short side as compared to some other "38s" but a nice size. The 4.10's aren't bad at all if you still want to cruise down the highway with a non-overdrive trans.

Unless you are going for the look, 8" is too much IMHO. I ran those tires with 4" and some fender trimming.

On the rear springs the info you have is correct. The 56" 3/4 ton springs are still 26" from the front to center bolt just like the stock 52's, with the extra length all at the back........so you can move the rear spring hangers. However if you are going to that much trouble I would prefer a shackle flip and less lift (arched) rear springs.

i know...BUT i dont want to pass up this basicly $2000 lift for $650 and i dont think alot of people would, and yea i need to be able to cruse 55 on my way to work (20mi.) and get OK mileage, i think this lift is to good of a deal to pass up so im building my rig around it, prob wouldnt be my first choise but they say bigger is better...lol

What's so special about this lift kit that it is worth $2,000? Is there something included besides front and rear leaf springs, shocks, and maybe steering correction?

If something is worth $2,000 and you can get it for $650 then it's a good deal, but when you can pretty much buy a brand new quality system that is quite possibly better????

if you build the kit on the website its costs right at $2000 cause of the brake lines, steering box reinforcement and 9000 series shocks... a close friend bought this kit brand new for his 85 2500 and was gonna do a frame off resto then bought a house and never used the lift its been sitting for about 6 months but was never been used, he needs the money and need a lift...lol... thanks for the input i dont doubt that i could do it cheeper or e-zer its just i though bds was the BEST you could buy but mabye im wrong
SO WHAT IM GETTN OUT OF THIS IS THAT THE 38X13X16 WILL NOT RUB ON STOCK RIMS WITH A 8 INCH LIFT... PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG, does anyone have pics of big tires on stock rims?

I have an 8" Superlift lift on my 1982 K30. I am running 36x12.50x16.5" bias ply Super Swampers on 16.5x9.75" wagon wheels. I don't have any rubbing issues, but that is a shorter tire, on a wider wheel, with probably less flex.

As for "big tires" on stock rims.

My buddy's 1985 K10 that I have been working on, 36x12.50x16.5" Goodyear millitary surplus bias ply tires, on OEM 16.5x6" steel wheels.

Unless you want the 13x38x16 TSL's to tuck way in and be very narrow I wouldnt use them on a stock wheel.
