I haven't tested it for road-worthiness yet, but for the amount of money I have into it I can afford to build another one.

I was thinking of doing something similar with an old Military canvas tent. Then cut off the "extra" and install snaps.

to the guy above me. im interested in akin a soft top for my k5, but i need something watertight. your design is what ive been thinkin and ive been wondering on how to attach it to the body and keep it water tight.

It was not 100% water tight but close. Used screw in button snaps to hold it on. And used a canvas tarp from home depot.

is it possible to get some more pictures of it? you can pm me them if you dont want to clog up this thread. is it watertight to the body or does it leak under heavy rain?

Don't worry, I'll tape the back to the tailgate before I paint. For now this is just keeping the sanding dust out of the interior.

Those snaps would sure hold it on better than my masking tape, but how would I paint the bedrails?

Only leaked at the roof line during heavy rain while driving. Sorry no other pics as this K5 no longer exists.
