Here are a few pics of my 87 K5 I bought last week. The previous owner owned it for 13 years and took exceptional care of it. The interior is as perfect as a 21 year old truck can be. The only bad parts are the tailgate has rust and the left quarter panel has a good size dent in it. It has the 350 700r4 combo.
Future plans: 2.5" add a leafs and install my Western ultramount pro 8ft plow.

So in other words you're planning on slowly destroying it?

Why not start with an already ugly truck to plow with instead of a good shape K5?

You dont destroy a truck by putting a plow on it. You destroy it by abusing it while plowing.

Salt plus twisting motions never intended by the factory = ???

Not sure on its past. Runs good with no smoke and 30 pounds of oil pressure. It was a local trade in at our Chevy dealer. Guy owned it for the last 14 years is all I know. Tried to contact him with no luck.

With the whole plowing thing, if your going to plow with it & you want to keep the paint looking good its going to require alot of paint maintenance. A couple things I do on my vehicles to keep the rust off is use polishing compound on it yearly & wax it yearly. Also spraying it off with a pressure washer once a week on top & on under carriage. I looked at a k10 plowing truck a few months ago for around $500, there cheap. Sounds like your K5's a smooth ride. Have fun with it.:D

i dont think 90% of the things people do to their trucks on this site was ever intended by the factory

Good point. I guess my line of questing is just because man...that thing's to perty, don't hang a plow on it!

My neighbor's got a K10 with a plow and a flat bed on it he's been trying to sell forever. No one around here wants the old trucks anymore, I don't need it, and the wife told me no ****ing way!:doah:

I plowed with my k30 last winter with a 8' HD plow. Its not the best sound when your cruising at 10mph and catch a sewer cap. If your careful and alert its not too bad, id plow again this year if my truck wasnt lifted.

Just got off the phone with the previous owner. He said it is the original motor and tranny. He used it as a second vehicle and hardly drove it in the rain. I didn't tell him I was going to use it as a plow truck/play toy.
He changed the oil every 3 months or 3000 miles which ever came first. When he changed it he used Lucas oil treatment for one of the quarts.
He just put air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and distributor in it. Oh yeah and rear brakes too. He jackknifed his trailer into the quarter panel so thats where the dent came from.

We wouldn't even drop our blades for that little amount of snow.HaHa

ha no well that was just the start of a good size storm, i was just sitting there for a few hours waiting for it to come in

you all must get a ton of snow, its hit or miss for us, but when we do get snow its such good money. i paid for that truck last year just off 2 storms

Our yearly average is around 300 inches here. I live in the snowbelt and get alot of lake effect snow.
