I am thinking about doing a complete buildup post, including costs of parts and pictures.

The axles are Torsion axles rated at 3500 lbs each
The trailer is going to be a 20 foot deck that will be set up to haul cars, bikes, four wheelers, etc....

Let me know if anyone is interested in this buildup.

Yeah John, I'd love to see how this happens. On the other side, maybe I'll just stop by & check it out in person /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hell yeah! I'd like to see that [darn]! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Sure thing, write it up /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Out of curisoty, why only 3500LB axles? Cost?

Please do the write-up!! I've been considering building a trailer too, but not sure what it involves as far as cost and effort. Do it. Do it. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif

Big Poppa,
No, I chose the 3500 lb axles because they will be more than I need. I have a 40 foot deck plus a 5 foot dove tail 3 7K axle gooseneck to haul my Blazer or what ever on. This trailer will primarily be for hauling my Harleys and 4 wheelers on. I am not sure about the cost diffence between the heavier axles and the ones I bought, but it would make a nice side note for the build up article.

It will take me some time to put this article together, post the pics on my site, then get it all together for here. It will only take about 3 days to build the trailer though. LOL...

Mark, you are welcome to come supervise or otherwise provide me with cheap labor... LOL..

John

I thought that it could be being built for a different purpose other than the blazer. I remember seeing pics of the bigger trailer now.

Build away /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

John,

Let me know whe your gonna do it. Depending on my schedule, I could probably come out for a day at least and help you get the bigger pieces of steel lugged around. Glad to help. Otherwise, how else am I gonna get you to weld up mine when I buy the materials!! /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I did get the rails welded up but I hit a snag when the charging system on my Harley took a crap. Had to push the trailer stuff to the side and work on the bike. I am off Monday and Tuesday so I plan on getting some more done to it then. I have been taking lots of pictures so far..... I am going to do the write up and post them when the project is complete...

Now that I read this, I wish someone would build an economical 20' car hauler with two 6k or 7k axles in a 5th wheel trailer for those of us that want to pull our junk. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif I bought a bumper pull trailer but I would have much rather had a 5er to pull my truck on.

Please do keep a good list of your time and cost for steel, fasteners etc... I definitely might try it if it saves a few $$.
Thanks, Jeff
