I picked this up last weekend, its going to be my new daily driver. Still learning the ins and outs of a diesel truck (this is my 1st) so I have been doing a lot of reading on here and steelsoldiers. I LOVE driving this so much!!! Here's a few more pics

Yes that does say "Flux capacitor 1.21 JW" Some soldier must have written that :haha:

Damn dude! that looks like a pretty clean rig too. Good for you!!

That is clean! You got any plans? Turbo for more power? Anything like that?

Thanks guy, it is in pretty good shape minus a few rust bubbles on the rockers and near the wheel wells, the floors are really solid. Not planning on doing anything crazy with this right now. I still gotta put the finishing touches on the trail rig and that white crewcab you see in the background of one of the pics is getting some new sheetmetal and a paintjob next year.

I might put a 4" lift on this and 35s, but not until next year. I would like to find a cheap set of 31s or 33s for the time being. I drove this in the snow yesterday and the front tires suck, the tread is pretty worn out.

Welcome to the club... Steelsoldiers is a goldmine of info... Chances are someone on there has dealt with any knid of problem you can imagine.

Very nice and Clean M1009 you'll love it, I've had mine for just over a month now and I've run the hell out of it, what are your plans trail rig or mud slut?

Already got a trail rig so this won't be hardcore. Couple things I want to get for it: soft top, rock sliders, 4" lift, tires 33 or 35, bolt-in rear roll bar, radio.

Speaking of which, does anybody know if these CUCVs have a dash speaker wired in or will I have to wire everything from scratch?

Another question. When I start it up either "Gen 1" or "Gen 2" or both lights on the dash will light up. They will go out once i tap the throttle. Whats the deal with that?

Usually as alternators get old, they won't "engage" and start charging until a few more revs are put into them. Nothing big. I drove a bus one winter that if it was really cold out (below 0) I had to rev the motor to 2,000 rpms before the alternator would start charging. The warmer the fewer revs needed.

If my plain Jane civvy rig is any example, there is nothing in the dash for speakers, no wires, no nothing.

looks real clean.i need to find one of these.how much did it set you back if you dont mind?i love the flux capacitor.at least you dont have to worry about hittin 88 mph to go back in time.that would probably be screaming at that speed anyway.haha
