My new truck...

but Avery's 305's could be kind of narrow or he might have wider than 8" rims. Lots of variables, hard to say.

Just for reference...

Thanks Avery.

Yesterday I pulled up next to a long bed extra cab 2500 that looked like he had it leveled out as well. I was able to check the size of his tires...305's...looked pretty good. Sounded better than mine too...aftermarket exhaust.

To run the spacers in back to bring the wheel out what size would I need? 1" or 2"? Saw these...

What's the point of the spacers in the rear? Doesn't do anything.

Yeah, I know...but what for?

10 years ago everyone on here was all about those...then it just faded away as people either dealt with it or went to a van axle.

I think it looks better with the wheels even. The reason I'm not going to go to a van axle is I don't want to have to find one and then go thru switching an older axle out for mine that isn't as old. Plus possibly having to swap gears...more $$$. Would rather put the time and money into wheels/tires and paint.

Bingo.

Bah, cosmetics.

(Then again I've got one truck that's camo and doesn't reflect light and another that I'm contemplating putting bedliner all over.)

Might do up to the beltline. Probably going to do the chip prone area around the hood and maybe the windshield. Need to find a good sprayer like my guy in TC, MI. Or might have my buddy back in MI do it.

You know me, I fret about rust like few others.

Rust??? What's that? This is Arizona. I'm starting to lean more towards this staying as my nice looking/reliable/daily driving/family toting/towing on occasion/trips to the dump/camping/backroad excursion(not necessarily in that order) vehicle. Atleast until I can afford the SAS.:D

So for now the wheels/tires and paint are what's next. Yesterday at work I was talking to a coworker about his stock 17" alloys on his new 3/4 ton Dodge, the ones that are on the new Power Wagon, telling him that when he was ready to upgrade I wanted to buy them from him. He told me about a friend that had a set with tires that he had basically driven home from the dealer and swapped on 20's...that they maybe had 10 miles on them. Had been sitting in his garage for the last year or so and wanted to get rid of them. He called the guy but unfortunately he had sold them a couple of weeks ago...for $400. :doah:

Those are EXACTLY the deals you have to watch craigslist like a hawk to find. But worth it.

That's exactly the reason why my wife will probably end up divorcing me...spending too much time on the computer perusing Craigslist. :D

Thats funny, thats the reason i don't have a wife yet. Small world :haha:

Well I finally got some. Found them on C/L last night. He had posted them around 9:30 and I saw the ad around 11:30...but considering the price I felt that I had to call that late and picked them up this afternoon.

Stock Dodge 17" alloys...excellent condition...with caps and lug nuts............$120.

Unfortunately to get them to fit I will have to use spacers, the offset is off...hahaha. In the back the rim butts up against the back lip on the brake drum. In the front the back of the rim rubs against the bolts where the balljoint is attached to the upper A arm.

I like those! Too bad they dont' fit w/o adapters.

Yeah I was kind of a bit miffed at first. Thought I would just sell them for twice what I paid and get some H2's. But then my mind started to work and I started to figure out ways to remedy the problem. I really wanna use these wheels.

First idea was disc brake swap but that's probably more money than I would be able to get okay'd by my financial adviser(wife). The spacer's came into play when I realized the front wasn't working either.

With 305's I think these are going to look pretty slick. Although with the spacer's already bringing the wheel out a tad I wonder if I should just go with 285's. Since the two are basically the same height but with the 285 being a bit narrower.

Also I figure I could probably sell the caps for $50...get some of my money back.

if doing spacers get the 9/16 like the dodge lug nuts will need.

then ask the place you get them if thay can sub in 14x1.50 nuts to hold the spacers on the truck.

this would solve to problems. spacers and dodge wheels with caps.

then have a few drinks and body fill the center caps and repaint to remove the ram logo. :eek1:
