My P40 Warhawk Fighter Truck....

hello all.. been a while, been busy havin a kid and rebuildin my blazer...

well this is what it looked like 5 yrs ago...

then after 4 yrs of hard wheelin she started too look a lil rough...

so it was time too rebuild. cleaned her up for one more trip before the surgery...

made a diff cover for the 14 bolt. simple yet effective...

and on the trailer off too my buddies shop ....

and the cutting starts...the body was absolutly done. i know the theme and plan for the truck now ( more on that in a bit). so it was time too cut the bad and save the good..

starting on the reparing process.. i used one tone frame pieces..

boxed and sleeved steering box..

new pass side frame horn, welded everythign solid..

cut out the stock crossmember and added my own..

crossmember is welded in..

boxed the one side..couldnt the other side due too the fuel pump..

put some tube in too tie the box together...

k.. on too the theme. having too add a new body i wanted a cab so my frame could flex but alos wanted a convert. but the main thing i wanted too be original. after some thought i came up with the P40 WARHAWK fighter plane theme.follow along as i turn my truck into a fighter plane ( powered by a 468 c.i. )

here is my hood before the fighter plane them is applied..

i went and got some custom decals made up." rivets" i wanted too start the look by giving my truck the riveted panel look. ya cant tell in the pics but they r actually shadowed and in person look like real rivets..

primered the box, the blue just wasnt cuttin it no more. i am not too sure what i am goin too do with the back end, that is why it is not painted too match the front. dont want too waste money when i'll prolly end up doin tube and sheetmetal.

added the rivet look too my gauge bezel..

urethane body mounts.. i highly suggest these..

added rivets too the cab..

back too my buddies shop for more chop cut rebuild..

added some top bars..

added the w's frame from thre blue one..

keeping with the fighter pplane theme added some speed holes too the cage a pillar plate. this will give the w/s frame some strength..

added the down bars for a cockpit look..

behind the seat.. giving the rear bulkhead some strength..

wow somebody has been busy nice work and i like the theme are you going to do a bomber style pinup on the side i was thinking of donig that same paint sceme with the chick then relized its alot of work.
that or a p51 with the teath on the side but might look to cartoony

the parts truck that i bought for this build had a 454 that oi planned on using... turns out it was a 468!!!

then delivered back too my p;lace for final assmebly and install..

mmmmmmmmmmmm sexy...

my buddy has this desktop dyno thing for his comp. when we added all the variables that we did it said i would get 400 hp and 535 ft lbs at 2000rpm. now that ive driven the truck i would say its at least that..

msd rev limiter that fits inside the hei...

painted the bushwacker fender flares the " sharksmouth".... can ya see a P40 theme now?

took it out for a first test run.. and ended up towin a jeep back... not a single issue...gotta like that..
