So my floors are rusted through and i am going to weld in new floors. I have ordered floors from lmc but they are really flimsy. So i was planning on just welding in 16ga sheet metal. Anyone else done this? I know i will need more bracing because its flat metal. Also im planning on cutting out the tailgate key device and welding in a flush mount from a donor i have. Anyone have pics of this being done?

Post #442 is the beginning. Should give you some Ideas. I blasted everything, , and I bought a can of SEM copper weld primer that I sprayed on the underside of any overlapping joint so the metal had some protection, then sprayed Eastwoods fast etch acid based rust desolver on everything after welding to kill any pitted rust (stuff works great) . BTW a piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing works perfect to get that radius on the bottom of the ledge thing. Happy trails :D

Thanks a bunch!

No prob dude. Just make sure to cut all of it out to good metal. Welding on pitted thin stuff is a pain. And make sure to get some seam sealer layed down in all the seams before paint, both top and bottom side. I wouldnt do the por-15 again before bedliner if thats what u plan. Its too hard to scuff up.
