My son's build. '72 Chevy

So John was able to borrow the 110V tig from his work to tack some things together.
I thought that it awesome to watch him.
:D

:saweet:

He had to get creative holding the mufflers up for mock up.

Nice progress
Yes! And I am so glad that he is moving some. We believe that we put the H pipe in a good place. We wanted to give the T-case some room to keep the heat away some while giving space to check the oil. Also hopefully not have too much oil or grease get on it.
I believe that we didn't over-think it...

Great build, alway been my favorite truck and color combo!!

I have some stuff to post on this. There have been lots of frustrations and setbacks, of course.

The doors are partially repaired. More welding is needed, the left one got a 2nd attempt at getting the skin folded better.

AFTERMARKET SHEETMETAL IS A PAIN!!
He put the right side all together, as in the outer rocker and cab corner, and then the door wouldn't shut. The rocker also had a slight curve to it.

So even though he passed on a set of NOS outer rockers years ago, he was able to find a set and discovered that they ARE made better. He has tested the left one, and the fitment to the door, fender and cab is much better. So he cut the right side back apart.

He made a 2nd grille insert and was able to get better results with the finish because he sanded the aluminum sheet before he cut it. Test fit happened, it just needs the tabs to hold the emblem and then finish work and powder coat, once he decides what color inside the rectangles.
