my Tahoe got stolen!

Im not really worried about someone starting my truck up and driving it off... just guys with tow trucks. I mean, just make your steering wheel, tranny shifter and tcase shifter removable, and your rig would be pretty damn hard to steal and drive off. Possible I guess, but so much of a PITA for an old beater truck that the neighbors new H2 is looking like a much better score..

Yeah Grim I would understand if that were the case. But the fact of the matter was that I walked across the street to the precinct 6 office and asked them what was taking so long to see three of them sitting around and cutting up while I had been standing 200 ft away waiting for them to come. So no I dont think auto theft is more important than the things you mentioned but the picture you tried to paint was not the case in my situation. I dont just rant w/o justification like some others do. And I also know some police who do a very good job but lately and especially in my area I have seen the exact opposite. Whether that is because they have a tough job is besides the point. My job is tough but that dosent mean I can provide less service. Fortunately in this country you have a choice in your career, if it sucks, find something better for you.

The first week I started driving my blazer some onebroke off the ignition cylender and tried to steel it,

Now I do a few things every day, or do some thing one day and another the next, my truck is also has no doors or top and no wheel wells so access to battery and colum is easy /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

1..simply pull the power lead off the rotor cap

2. I have my ignition wire run through my dimmer switch, the dimmer is on a toggle now, so it apears to be a kill switch /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

3. fuel cut off swich, I just bought a electric pump, the switch will be along the truck on the side, as I walk by simply run my hand along the truck and hit the switch! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

4. I leave my t-case in nutral and turn the tires at full lock every night, this saved it the first time, although I don't know if they got it started. Az is a flat place s I don't worry about it rolling away.

5. This is the red neck one, but a garentee... I simply pull the wiring harness off the firewall about 1/2 inch, I dont run the bolt through the middle but it has yet to ome off on it's own /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif At night the would have no lights, ven if they could start it.

6. I just started putting a chain and a vending machine style lock I got at Home Depot. I put the fchain through a wheel and to the frame /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Last but not least I have a cheap alarm, just a 40 daller used alarm from a autozone, it won't stop a expert, but it will scare away an amature, I am going to run it through my PA, and I started the wiring for my air horn, the alarm says "help some one is stealing me!" And "back away from the car" /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

with these things I think it should be a pain to steal /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

while we're talkin security, 4wpw has a new gizmo they are selling... which allows you to track your truck sorta like on star or lowjack. If stolen, you can call them up on the phone and they'll tell you were it is, or you can even log on to a web site and track it down that way. pretty nifty,
