My truck\'s doin funny sh!t (electrical problems?)

Lately my truck's been actin up. Sometime's when I hit a bump it'll shut off for a split-second then be fine. When it does this the "brake" light on the dash will light up and stay lit till I pull the e-brake lever a couple of times (the e-brake is not on either). It also shut's off the cruise control as if I hit the accelerator or brake pedal. It makes a kinda clicking noise that lasts for about a second and sounds like it's coming from the cassette player, but the radio never stops, this doesn't phase the a/c either. I had it off road this weekend and drove about 120 highway miles on the highway and now it's worse and the cruise control doesn't work at all anymore. What the hell is going on? It's a 96 GMC K1500 with a Vortec 305 and the non-granny 5-speed (NV3500?). Thanks for any help.

If I were you (and I dont know a ton about this stuff) I would pop your hood and follow your wire harness around through your engine compartment. If you havnt done it already. Make sure all of your pig tails (that you can get to) are plugged in and see if anything is loose. Just a quick suggestion. Maybe check your altinator connection as well? Anyone else?

I got under the hood this afternoon and wiggled everything around and now it doesn't do it anymore, the cruise even works again. I'm pretty sure it was a loose battery cable (it's really loose). So tomorrow, I've got to go find some copper washers to use as spacers, yes it's that loose. I'll do that and then just drive it for a week or so and see if it does it again.

All-most a sure bet.
Why is it so loose?
Try useing a copper brake-line washer. The washer used for the front brake-line to caliper fitting, it's a perfect fit.

Futher-more,
Its fairly common for "ABS" or "Brake" warrning lights to turn on when the system is suplied with less than the 12 volts. (power hungy systems, safty concerns). Also, when there are several electrical malfunctions, in a "batch", and intermentant. It's a sure bet that there is a poor connection some-where in the system.

I didnt know that. That will really help me out once my brakes are bled by the computer. If the light it still on I know what else I can check. Thank you /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I went to NAPA and they want $1.00 each for those brakeline washers, I was like, "Damn, I'd rather just cut the centers out of pennys". You know of any place where I can get them cheaper?

I have no clue. I'd have to go look at it to tell, it's dark outside and my underhood light doesn't work, so I'll have to look in te morning.
