ahhh, I think the 42's are the ones where they changed the tread depth and made them more square unlike the 39.5's that are more balloony

its called a stinger. In the event of a rollover it prevents rocks from smashing into the hood and ruining your radiator or motor. Also can act as a slider on rocks to slide the front end up onto stuff. More so the rollover thing though.
