My VIN# question..

I finally got a rear driveshaft!!!!Whoo hooo! Anyways..My VIN starts out..CKR. my question is what is the R for? also, I need a new rear window crank/latch on the outside if my tailgate. Where do I get one? I've seen some that lock and some that don't. I need a locking crank/latch.

R indicates your engine type. In this case R is for 1977 - 1979 400 V8
