Well finally got to do our annual run up to a old logging road just north of my hometown this weekend. It all started out with good intentions, we actually made good time going up the trail. The only problems we encountered was when I got a rock lodged between the caliper/rim and punctured a big hole in the rim. So I borrowed a buddy's spare to get me up the trail, we than called another friend to bring me up a full size spare so we could continue on.
We made it a ways up the trail, we built another bridge this year in a different spot. It was at that point we decided to head back do to nightfall. At that point it all started going down hill. The guy with the ford grenaded a starter, and no spare. But he had a seized one with him, so we cleaned/loosened it up using a exacto knife. A couple hours later we were rolling again.
Than slowly but surely we ran into troubles, I filled my clutch with slew grass and cooked the starter solenoid. Which rendered me useless. The big black chev blew the yoke off the transfer case for the front shaft while pulling me out. And the ford had lost its brakes somewhere in the midst of that.
Luckily the black chevy with the deck was able to pull us all out. We had a train of 4 trucks hooked together the most part. The last hole one the way out is where we struggled the most. Took us 4 hours to get 4 trucks 300 feet. During the guy who had been doing all the pulling blew the adaptor between the tcase and trans. So when it came to pulling my truck thru, I had to winch it 200 feet with winch only power. We than hooked my buds truck up and winched it thru.
We were gone 18 hours, it took 10 hours for us to get back to my bud's house not far from the trail. We arrived home to the sun coming up as well.
Pic's to come......
