2 weekends ago i pulled a hydro 465/205 and sold it to a member here.

then this weekend i pulled a 400/205 and swaped it in to my 79 c&c in my sig. it is from a 88 crewcab other build up. it had a single hump crossmember in it. i had a dubble "W' crossmember and used it in the swapover for exaust clearence.

waiting on my new nosalgia duoble bend midnight 24" lokar shifter to show up. and monday i will be droping off the driveshaft to get shortened and then figure out the front.

exaust shop will get the truck soon for a redo of the system for diffrent clearences and better flow.

few pics of the swap over.

Must be nice working with a lift. I will say, you are missing out on rolling in the mud and gravel though! It seems you get it all done in a day, and I fiddle futz around for a week to get my sh!t done.

once u have a lift u never want to work in your driveway again, once u have an overhead crane u never want to use a cherry picker again. it sucks.

Nice clean parts! ;)

Don't see the purpose of the "w" X-member thogh. That exhaust would have cleared without it.

and i thought my **** was dirty. :doah:

I've learned the grime just keeps things from leaking :D

Nice BTW ;)

well took about 2.5 hrs total for the shifter install cause i have a 2wd solid floor pan. if it unbolted like older units it would have been much faster.

i set all of it up like the directions showed. then i set the main bracket up on the tranny as 1 unit and wiggled it up and over in to place. then removed the top 2 tcase adaptor to tranny tail bolts. then set the back bracket in place and reinstalled the bolts.

then i installed the side plug adaptors and pinched the set screws all down. once that was all done i went inside the truck and set the shifter threw the stock 4 speed shifter hole. and i decided i wanted it back 1 hole set from all the way forward. this required to open the back side of the hole up. i removed around 1.5-2" of floor. i reset the shifter and checked it and loved it so i bolted it all in place.

then with the shifter in park and the tranny arm in park position i cut the rod to length and had to bend the rod to make it kick over to each arm for better movement and no binding on the hiem joints.

then road test was super nice and i love the feel and flow of the shifter . nice smooth detent button on the option ordered pistion knob.

good bling and quality for the buck in my opinion. like others have said tho those button head allen bolts suck in tight area's .....

pic 1 = park position from center of cab direct shot pic.
pic 2 = pistion shift knob.
pic 3 = all the way down to 1st gear.
pic 4 = shift linkage on side of tranny.
pic 5 = side shot of shifter to dash area.

oh ya i chose the piston knob for 2 reasons.

#1 i am a gear head .

#2 to complement my 12+ year old key chain .

Looks sweet:waytogo: It appears to have gone quite a bit easier than the alterations I have gotten myself into.

So... now off the the toy build?

That is the same shifter I put in my Dads 34 Chevy. And you are correct about the lift.

yep nothing like a 7 bay work shop and 4 10k lifts / 12k lift / 15k lift / 12k alignment rack.

oh ya and my huge snap on tool box.
