So I'm going toss the lift on this frame, swap the EFI tank over to it and start bolting in the 3/4ton stuff that sitting in the garage.
So far I have:
-echobit flip and 56" rear springs flipped to push the rear axle back 3"
-52" spring currently on rear of the new frame will be moved up front
-ford towers
-14bolt with open and 5.13's, have everything except brackets for disk swap
-10bolt, 5.13's open, 8lug swap parts thanks to JK5 and hooiserK1500 for parts!
-2wd steering box from an 89 burb (still need the pitman arm)
8lugswap.jpg

still need a few parts here and there but I'll figure out something!

anyhow, here's another pic for fun!

Awesome /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif How long before you get this rig wheeling? When you do, tell me how the reversed 56's work out. I am still /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif on it /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

Glad to see that you finally have a frame that isn't perforated! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

That frame looks really clean for this area.

Looks like some rotors need some machining. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

YEP! I'll have all four of those machined, hopefully two of them are good, if all four are usuable I'll do the 14bolt disk brake swap.

BY THE END OF THE MONTH.... it WILL be a rolling chassie.
Hopefully the motor tranny swap will go ok, I'm going to do alot of cleanup when it goes on to the other frame so I'll have wait till I find a couple hundred bucks for filters, tune up parts and paints, oils and stuff (lots of paint).

Once everything gets swapped over I'm hoping to make a couple fall runs :fingers crossed:

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

got all but two of the spring eye bolts out by hand today before it started raining. I'm going to get the echobit flip and 56's put on tomorrow if its not raining.
then I need to regear the 14bolt later this week and toss it under (got to find some 14bolt spring plates and ubolts though).

only thing blue in there is the channel locks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

Are you talking about the Handle of the hack-saw? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

(bump)
rear 56's are on and I'm doing a search now for a starting length on my 52" front spring shackles /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

56's are on with the rear flip

welded in my spacers for the front spring hangers
fronthangerspacer.jpg

the front brackets dont fit moved forward with my bunper brackets

Without the bumper on here's what it looks like

SO, I cut the bottom of the bumper brackets back a little bit, I just need to figure out how to brace the front of the spring hanger. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Re: Thanks to MATT and JON my winter project has become my current project

Jeremiah,
I'd weld a 2x2 or 2x4 across side to side inside the frame. With some gussets those front mounts aren't going any where. I just wanted to let you know that I helped on a similar conversion and we had to lower the front mounts for a better pinion angle! Pending length of shackles so don't weld anything until until you see your mockup complete. I have an empty front housing you could use for mockup.

I know you wish you had a real job! But seeing you work on your projects, I wish I could be outside about right now. Work sucks but it pays the bills.....-Mark

Yep same here!

Once I get a couple bucks I'll go rob the new scrap pile at the local steel place for steel for shackles and front crossmember, I want to make a new engine crossmember also.

I was thinking about using a section of 1"x3" square tube and welding some tabs/brackets to it and bolting that to the frame and then tack welding it. If I had another set of 56" springs I'd build the spring hangers into the front bumper and use the long side forward /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Do yourself a favor while the frame is like that. Knock out all the rivets in the front most crossmember and replace them with bolts and nuts.

Just for shits and giggles while I got it sitting flat in the driveway I might weld in some of the extra holes /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I hate to look at custom stuff and see 10doz extra holes. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
I've been thinking about popping the rivets out and replacing them with 3/8's grade 8 bolts and lock nuts /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I might go ahead and do that /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

I'm having problems coming up with a front crossmember for these front springs.
