Mysterious wires

Here’s what I’ve got on my 88. First two pictures are for the driver side taillights. Third picture is wiring for the tailgate glass motor and switch. Forth is for the passenger side taillights. Hope this helps.

yellow left turn/brake, green right turn/brake brown tail, and license plate. Need some stills to help more just as I am focusing on wire color and connector frame moves and I can not follow.

Another "trick" is to cut that four flat off, and wire it up for a 7 pin connector. All new rigs I've seen come with 7 pins already installed, and you can carry a four flat adapter in case you need the older stuff. Just seems more likely to need 7 pin in my book. And you've got more versatility for extra functions, if needed.

As to the adapter, be aware that the one linked MIGHT be for the older, non-weatherpack connectors. OP apepars to be dealing with weatherpack. Those trailer wiring adapters are available too. Same idea, different connectors.

had to many problems with round 7 to 4 flat adapters and or being mia when needed . all i do now is the truck side with round 7 AND 4 flat built in to it .

Trailer wiring in general I think is by design meant to cause frustration lol.

I have a box on the trailer tongue for all the goodies that go with it so hopefully I won't lose my adapter, straps, etc. I also pack the connector cavities with dielectric grease, as corrosion happens very quick if I don't. I would like a more robust mount for the 7 pin connector, the force required to insert the connector bends the cheap bracket it came with.
