Mystery Green Wire

I have a green wire coming through the firewall into the dash area just to the right of the fuse box in my 1974 Jimmy (see the picture). It is not connected to anything so obviously I would like to connect it as it should be. Can anyone take a picture of their set up? By chance should it be connected to the neutral start switch? My switch has an open connection (see second picture). I tried looking at the wiring diagram I have and it is not very clear.

Thanks in advance for your help.IMG_0011 (1).jpegIMG_0012.jpeg

Doesn't appear factory. Can you find it on the engine side?

I can't tell if it comes from loom or grommet at fire wall

Looks like a it could be the backup light wire from a manual transmission. They were run separately through the firewall to the backup light switch that is on the transmission.

The spade connector is missing the plastic housing but could be used without it.

The wire sticking through the crimp makes it look non-factory (and lack of housing as mentioned above, although it's possible the housing has broken and failed). Any chance there has been an aftermarket tachometer at some point?
