Discovered un-plugged on a recent purchase. Don't notice anything not working. :dunno:

Follow that wire harness and see where it goes. I don't think whatever it is is factory.

What's got me vexed is that the wiring is so tidy and enclosed back to the firewall. Like you said though, will get the tracer on it. We just found this as the light was fading, so thought it might be a proper Friday night challenge for the CK5 contestants. :whistle:
 
Alarm system maybe?? Shock sensor?

The white zip tie seems like it's aftermarket "something".

Also, which suburban did you get? I just noticed a really nice 91' GMC 2500, white one for sale with 6" lift in the Denver area...
 
Interested in what this is identified as......I (89 GMC Jimmy)have a plug very similar, 6 pin-female, it comes through the firewall,in the factory harness, travels 1/2 way down the drivers side inner fender well, and terminates to nothing just behind the washer reservior. I haven't really been too concerned, but it does cross my mind every now and then.
