Name the Axle Game

My parents have a old 1976 dodge motorhome. The Gvw of the motorhome is 14000 pounds. All i know it is a FF alxe and has 5 lugs for the 19.5 rims. Where the alxe is the axle and the bolts that hold it on look to be about 4-4.5 inches in Diam. Can anyone name that axle. Could it be a dana 80 .

Should be a Dana 70.

I don't think the Dana 80 existed until around '88 or so.

u think a dana 70 is big enough on a 28 foot motorhome with a rear rating at 9000 pounds

Sure.

GM used a 10k pound rated D70 in some class A motorhomes (10-lug w/discs) also.

The larger bolt pattern allows for larger wheel bearings and thus the higher axle rating.
