I'm looking into having a set of 1 tons narrowed. Chances are I'm just going to get the shafts cut and resplined unless I can find an alternative. Anybody have any ideas on doing this?

Be careful, some axles shafts don't have the material to use when you cut and respline. For instance, take a look at a 14 bolt and you will see the shaft is slightly smaller than the splined area.

whats wrong wayne? not gonna tell em what its for?

keep the full width.. to hel1 with the jeep thing. keep it stable, and replacement shafts will be cheaper

Can't keep it full width and stay street legal. What's the plan for your dad's project with 1 tons?

BTW so everybody knows, the plan is to stuff them under a JEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think we have him talked into outboarding the springs and keeping it full width. The way it SHOULD be!

Use two short 14 bolt shafts and narrow it 6". That'll get the WMS to WMS in at 61"...

Hey Ryan, just remember I will still have a 1 ton K5 sitting in the driveway. At least I'm not totally selling out since the Jeep will basically be a GM with a smaller lighter skin with much better visibility. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You forgot our trail guide from the UCP run. Although we did wind up with 1 a-hole in our group and it figures he was in a Jeep. /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

you didnt like the guide....or the guy in the red yj?

i thought that the guide in the cherokee was a nice fella.

The guide was great, the one in the red YJ was ok but the one in the tan YJ was an a$$.
