Ned help big time

I replaced the pinion yolk on my suburban because the old one shattered . When i took the old one off ther was this metal looking sheild thing it just fell off. Do i need to put this back on and if so dose it go on in a special way. It looks like there might be a weight on it but not sure if need ill try to get a pic of it.

That should be like a dust shield for your pinion seal. I would put it back on.

so it wont5 affect ther balance or anything like that if not put on right away
