I have a dana 44 and a dana 60 that have 3.08's that I'd trade for 4.10's or 4.11's. I will also pay for the gears if the seller doesn't want to trade!

Where did you find a Dana 60 with 3.08 gears? Because they don't make them. The Dana 61 was designed for applications that required higher gears than the 3.54 limit on the Dana 60. The 60 and 61 look almost identical, but use different gears and carriers.

Got them off of a 74 Jimmy... counted it up... they are 3.08's
That rear axle would be a GM 12 bolt, not a Dana 60 if it is original from a '74 GMC Jimmy. Dana 44 front would also be correct.

It may not be stock... but I know it's a 60, and I know it has 3.08's. Same with the 44

Can you post some pics of that rear axle? Is it a FF or SF? 8 lug or 6 lug? Everything I have ever read or heard says 3.08's could not be put into a D60 and that is the reason the D61 was designed in the first place... But if you have a D60 with 3.08 gears and it has the "60" cast into the flange it would definitly change my mind.

I have a rear dana60 w/ 4.10s out of a 71 C20. I bought it for the open carrier. I'll sell you the ring/pinion for $40 plus shipping.

That sounds good... call me stupid but if I buy the ring and pinion will I need anything else to make it work??

Not sure where the carrier break is, so you may need a carrier. Getting a master install kit would probably be a good idea to replace all the bearings and seals. But if your bearings are good, might not be an issue. I'll pull the cover and take some pics for you.

I have a used dana 44 4.09 ring and pinion and a brand spaking new carrier to make it work, like to get $40.00 each or $75.00 for the pair, plus the ride.

The case brake is 4.09 and numerically higher for the 44, but the 60 doesn't change carriers until 4.56 and numerically higher I believe.
