Need a cupholder or two...Suggestions

I have seen the plug-n-chug (sic) but what I would really like is one that can be bolted to the dash to the left of my CB.
Also would like it to be sturdy, not the typical cheap ass Vato-Zone junk.

Who's seen what I am looking for?

How about a nice anodized aluminum bicycle bottle mount . Those will hold a bottle of water and most 20 ounce soda bottles , maybe bigger if you bend it out a little .

Or how about taking an early IFS truck dual cup holder tray and making it work somehow if you have dash room under ashtray . I can measure my 93 for depth required .
 
Should have let me know before you left I could have prolly got you a Zarf. Aluminum and plastisolled. We had a box at work I think I could still get them.

Never seen the early IFS cupholders. It might work.

I would rather not have it under the dash so I could reach it easily. I would hate to be swerving around the interstate becuase I could not get my beer.............I mean Soda.




I hope no Cops read that. They might be mean to me.:doah::deal::deal:
 
Yep it is a submarine cup holder. It is shaped like a C on top where the cup fits through. You can see by the shape it would hold a cup from sliding out. Some also had bottoms to hold the cup up if it was to thin to fit like a taper in the C.

I am looking and having trouble finding it. You could make it with a hole saw and a piece of flat steel. Cut the hole, cut a notch, and then bend the flat to make [_.

Like what! So you know what a plastisolled is? Then you are one up on me. I'm wondering about both of 'em:haha:

Might be a little funny suggesting this to a guy who's around ships:rolleyes: but how about something for a boat? Ya know, swivels fore 'n aft, starboard 'n port? I suppose they would come in different sizes & materials and be limited only by your $$$$:D
 
I was thinking about a cup holder form West Marine or the likes.....Only problem is there is no real water here in Temecula, hence no Marine stores.

I would like to have something installed for my drive east on Wednesday.
 
I got two bike bottle holders at wally world. Nice aluminum ones, but they have rubber straps that are adjustable. They can be tightened up to fit little water bottles or loosend up for 1 liter big slams too. Just don't work to well with actual cups, bottles are better. 12 ounce cups are fine, but the wide taco bell cups or 64 ounce big gulp bladder busters won't fit.

I mounted mine to the front of my stock console. Pleanty of clearance with the 4 speed and 205 shifters too. Only problem I have is if I have a 1 liter bottle in the pass side holder. The top of the bottle is just high enough to be in the way when shifting into reverse. Otherwise, smaller bottles are no problem.

If you are curious this is where we drive a submarine from. The lady is sitting in the "inboard station" That station controls rudder and stern planes. The "outboard station" controls the fairwater planes or bow planes depending on the sub.

Plastisol is a dipped and baked rubber that is used to preserve metal mainly aluminum. It is used extensively on hand wheels that get hot in the engineroom and also for color coding depending on what the system has inside. Hydraulics is orange, seawater is green, lube-oil is yellow, HP air is gray, LP air is brown, and steam is white.
