Need a Fuel filter for my fuel pump

Go through your work catalog and find a filter head adapter for a filter that is 10 microns.

In the higher pressure aftermarket fuel injection world it is generall accepted that you need a 100 micron pre pump filter then a 10 micron post pump filter.

I have a summit brand filter adapter that uses a canister filter for the post pump filter and just run a Napa fuel filter that is 10 micron. It's big and can filter a lot of crap before plugging which is important.

You should be able to put a pre filter and post filter in the cheapest way possible with these.
 
That would work, That is the exact system type I was trying to describe. Two of those heads and a couple corresponding filters and call it done.
I would be afraid that the 2 micron filter is way too small. Also in Keith's world specifically I wouldn't be worried about water due to the dryness of the climate.

Water in fuel is a bit more diesel specific IMO and at least with gas you just dump a bottle of Isoprophyl alcohol in once every six months and call it good.
 
I think Northern Tool or Jeg's sells the same filter for less too--WIX makes a nice one thats OEM on '82 GM diesel trucks too,that a local NAPA or other store can order,I think the base # is 24309 and the filter is a 33123 Wix..

Up here ,if you dont get water in your gas right from the gas station,the wide swings in temps causes condensation to form,next thing you know you have enough water in the fuel to cause problems...
I was quite surprised though,when I dropped a leaky fuel tank out of my diesel pickup that I'd never put more than 1/2 a tank in for many years,had no signs of water in it!..
 
Electric fuel pumps DO NOT like a filter before them as it makes the pump work harder. Electric fuel pumps are made to push fuel not suck fuel and a filter before the pump is going to make the pump try to suck fuel through it before it pushes fuel upstream. BTDT and toasted a pump.

Then my multi thousand race mile filter before pump setup must not work.

Most peoples pump issues are because the pump has to try to suck the fuel uphill and perhaps through a filter, not just because it has a filter before the pump. Flooded suction is way more important than worrying about a 100 micron filter before the pump.

Tbi setups have the sock in the tank so do most of the later models as well I think. The sock/screen is a pre pump filter.

I'm not saying it wont work, i'm saying it should not have a filter before the pump (other than the factory sock).

I also agree about most peoples failures, even worse is when someone installs an electric pump way up front near the engine then expects it to suck/pull fuel forward to the engine.
