...a BBC flywheel.

I'm thinking of installing the 454 I got from Rocko into the '82 K30 from Shawn.

I just don't have a flywheel for the externally balanced motors. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif I have one for a 350, but nothing for a 454.

For those who are about to dig for the number, keep in mind that I'm asking for a flywheel, not a flex plate. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

AutoZone wanted $171... I paid more than that from gmpartsdirect.com after shipping... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Dan, I checked gmpartsdirect and they had them for something like $140 for one of the part number Jim listed.

What was the shipping cost on this?

Thanks Jim!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

That's the exact same number I have on paper from a source I found that had the flywheels for a stock 454. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Hey Wes, the 454 that I bought to put into the '90 burb came with a flywheel. It's in excellent shape and I've already bought an SFI approved flex plate since I'll be running an auto. There's not even a wear ridge at the edge of the clutch contact area. $80 plus shipping will get it to your door. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Harry, PM me with the shipping cost to zip 67439. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

I just remembered another thing, Harry, that somewhere there is a year split between the Gen. IV and Gen. V motors where the flywheels won't work on the other.

I can't remember if I read or heard that anything from '88 and newer will not work on the '87 and older.

Can anybody clarify this?

I'll have to weigh that heavy mutha! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif The casting number on my engine comes up with this description at www.mortec.com: 14015445...454.......78-90...2 or 4 bolt. So unless they changed the crankshaft without changing the block casting number, then it should fit your engine.

Ok, I will do some more checking to confirm the years. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Go ahead and get a shipping quote. More likely if it's the correct one, I'm gonna be getting it from you. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Harry, did some quick checking and yep, the actual years for the Gen. IV runs from '70 to '90.

Your flywheel will work just fine for my 454. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Consider it SOLD!! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I know the weight on the FW itself is 30lbs... but I swear mine cost something like $176 total... Hmmm... I'd have to dig up the papers at home.
