Need a locker for a 12 bolt OR a 14 bolt in AZ.

I currently have a 12 bolt in my rig and I have a '73 3/4 ton parts truck with 14 bolt / Dana 44 that I'm planning to swap. The '73 has a good body, and bed that I plan to sell. I'm going on a run on the weekend of April 13th and need to lock one of my axles by then.

Weld up the front since you plan on swapping axles anyways.

hell man, weld them both up and run half ton for the weekend.
maybe i will be done moving by then and try to make it up there.

Hhmmmm, tempting, but I do have to drive this thing to work. I am considering welding the rear, but both would make it too hard to steer since my t-case linkage is still messed up. Having to crawl under the truck to lock or unlock the front wheel drive every time I wanted to turn would be a pain. Hey Dan how long did your welded 12 bolt last?

I mini spooled mine, and it lasted for one hard run and a few pretty easy runs, then it came apart.

WHere did it break? Was it the spool it self? Take a guess on how many miles you drove it before breakage.

The spool broke itself. I would say less than 200 miles. I was locked front and rear at the time, so that puts less stress on the rear axle.
