friends brother found this. 3/4 ton 4x4 6.2 th400/208. tow package. 4.10 gears. 122k under this truck is spotless. not even surface rust and the chassis. only small bit of rust is where the rear wheels kick up everything. thats it.

last time this truck ran was in early 1998. owner knows nothing about the running gear. brought it home and does not have the time for it. just sat. only other thing i see wrong is the dark blue pant is coming right of and you can see gray primer.

wants 2600, his brother wants to go pick it up late monday. to me, its to much for a truck you know nothing about. even if its clean

whats to you guys think?

I kind of agree with you on the price. I bought a clean, as in zero rust and dents, 88 GMC Suburban 1/2 ton with a 350, th350, np208 with 110,000 on the clock for $1500 this last summer. If your friend's bro can wait until summer, I'm pretty sure there'll be a lot of Subs for sale once gas prices rise again.

Now if I was in your area, I would buy it, I would probably offer $2000 and see where that goes.
I would slap my turbo on it and call it good :D

And as for the 1/2 ton 350 engine sub, yeah I wouln't pay more than 1500, this however is not, it's a 3/4 ton and a diesel.
I got 20mpg in these trucks.

thats why he wants. 3/4 ton and diesel. for me after my first 1.2 ton burban. wouldnt buy one unless it was 3/4 ton.

Yeah I had 2 of them, the first is the one I still have which is a non running turbo diesel 3/4 ton clean no rust great interior with only the headliner sagging.
And the other was a running turbo diesel 3/4 ton that had plenty of rust, just sold it for $2000 and the guy just had a big grin on his face that it was cheap.

I would agree, except that it hasn't run in 10 years. We're talking about a good chance of algae all over the fuel system, besides whatever got it parked in the first place.:doah: Just food for thought, cuz it's likely to be a fair bit of work to get her going again. Here, I would try to talk him down anyway, since I could swap engines and leave it smog-exempt.

You want a 3/4 ton sub smog exempt now?
I will sell you mine minus engine.
PM me if interested. I will rebuild that diesel and put it in my blazer.

he said to us, he just wants to sell it as it is. before anyone starts it. he wants to change all the fluids and filters. he wont let us put batteries in and try it. i dont see the big deal or why it all needs to be changed. he still wants to buy it. i say no way. feels to me like he has something to hide.

yeah dude esp if hes not letting you try with it. I mean a rust free body is worth alot here but not that much. The whole driveline could be shot for all you know. Id go with 1500, maybe a little more and see if he takes it.

Anytime I have someone like that I either lowball them really bad and start saying I am buying blind so for all I know it's all F'd up, and if it really is good they want to prove it and show me, or if I am right they take the low ball offer and run.
I don't like to buy anything without the ability to test ynless the price is so low it doesn't matter the condition.

here what we just got sent:

Good evening, I was strongly advised by my mechanic that it is a very bad idea to try and start the truck with 8 year old diesel fuel that is probably gelled up. This WILL mess up the injectors. Thus tank must be drained, hoses blown out, fuel filter changed and new fuel. Furthermore, oil has not been through the motor in years, it needs to be properly primed with new oil and a new filter. I'm stuck in the middle here, the best I can do is 2000 as is, I will not attempt to start it unless he does all the work then, I will have to add his bill to the price. I just want to get rid of it the way it is, as was my original plan. Thank you.

sounds like crap to me....oh well sure is hard to find a diesel suburban

Well he does have a point, and if I was going to try and buy this I would be doing similar prepping, like bypassing the fuel system and priming the engine with oil, I wouldn't try and run anything that was sitting for that long without all that prep.
I say if he's down to $2000, go look at it, if looks well maintained and doesn't look like he recently washed the engine or running gear, then buy it.
If it's been washed then he is hiding something and walk away.

Pass on it. There will be another one that will come along. Something that you can't show me to function I consider a "core" be it a part or complete vehicle.

he did pass, picked up a sweet suburban. for 1500 84 k30 suburban. got it just a few days later. nice truck, if i found it first it would be mine

K30 suburban?
Is that a suburban with transplanted D60 or someone just put a K30 Badge on it?
Or is it just a typo?

old owner had a rusty work truck. ran good but rusty. took all the running gear out and put in ito the suburban. rusty old truck was a 79 k30. 400 motor, th400/205 4.10s in 1 tons axles in a suburban. pretty clean truck to top it off. he did really good. i have way to much going on right now, so what i find i pass on to friends and family. 2 friends got a running and driving m1009 for 550 and a running and driving m1008 for 800. best to deals i have found in a long time

Anybody interested in my Diesel Sub? It'll drive anywhere with new tires.

As far as fuel system, a friend just removed his oil tank from his house, changed to electric about 30 years ago. He pumped out the oil, about 50 gallons, and gave me the 275 g tank, in nice shape, and all the fuel. I let it settle for a coupla' weeks, and it cleared rite up. I just poured till the sludge started moving. I was surprised after so long that it wasn't worse!
And I'd think a Trucks fuel system is more "sealed" than an oil tank in a damp basement... IMO... But I'd still clean 1st, instead of scrapping injectors, I guess...
