I was wondering if anyone had a pic of a dana 60 front diff.
And also how can you tell if you found one at the salvage yard.
I think i ran across one but want to make sure.

There is an axle guide in the tech section.

It looks like a d44 only bigger, they're realy hard to tell apart other than the big diff in size.

HEY A QUICK WAY TO TELL IF ITS A DANA 60 IS IF THE FRONT END HAS RECTANGLE COVERS WHERE THE BALLJOINT WOULD USUALLY GO. THEY HAVE KING PINS WITH BUSHINGS. LOOKS TOTALY DIFFERENT!

Take a look at the webbing around the cover. On the right hand side on the bottom are cast numbers protruding out. They say 60 for the D60 and 44 for the D44. Another way to check is, look on the pumpkin (passenger side) and inspect the spring pad. There should be two holes in the cast part of the pumpkin. This is where the two studs, or bolts, go to hold down the u-bolt plate. A D60 only uses 3 u-bolts. Last, check the knuckles. Each top and bottom of the knuckle plates are held by 4 bolts. This cant be confused with a D44 which uses 1 big nut to hold the ball joint together. The plates on the D60 knuckles are rectangle shaped.

Thanks
for all the help guys
I didnt think it was a dana 60 and now I am sure.
I am curious now though.
What other 8 lug front differentials was used on Chevy I would say in the mid 80's I thought it was chalked for reference to be a 85.
Not sure though.
It kind of looks like a ten bolt. But I didnt think they made one of those in a 8 lug.
Oh well I guess it doesnt matter now.
Thanks
