I've tried repairing and fixing the passenger seat belt but it's dead. It doesn't retract anymore. I found a couple for like a $165 for new. Seems reasonable but before I buy them I thought I'd ask if there's something better.

Where did you find them? Someone had posted up some repops not long ago, I think they are a fairly new product to the market.

Ever figure out what was wrong with yours? Seems these things are nearing the end of their useful life. Mine have gotten pretty temperamental, and really dont get a ton of use.

It won't retract. I've tried cleaning it out, lubing it, checked the little plastic retractor thing. It's just shot. This truck was previously a mud truck so I'm sure the years of mud just took it's toll. Thankfully the driver side still works.

Yeah, unfortunately these dont seem to have a high success rate from being fixed.

The ones you found, are they used ones, or new?

The new ones I've found are not even close to original. They are typically single retractor, universal fit. And fit poorly in top of that. Next time I'd pick up good working used originals over new parts.

My 77 is single retractor.
Idk if any one else has this issue, but my lap section gets tighter as you go along. You have to unbuckle retract and refasten.
I kinda want find new belts myself.

I have some gray factory seat belts if you are interested in them at all. I could grab some pictures tonight.

Not identical to OEM, but those operate the same as the factory k5 belts AFAIK.

Suburban and pickups used dual retractors, no?
Yes, I'm mainly thinking about pickups since I own three... I haven't looked at K5 seatbelts in a while even though I own one.

I sent my wifes k5 belts to them after texting and sending pics. They put new webbing and made sure they functioned right. Contact them

Yep. Somewhere on the site I saw "classic". Whether or not these trucks are classics, the belts are now of that vintage!

Glad to hear they did the work. I'd prefer mine repaired than replace with chinese universal parts.

That's not good. Was some of your attemtped contact pre-Corona? Just hoping the issue is due to that, and temporary!

This sounded like a really good resource.
