need advice on good headers.

Yeah but you'll get what you pay for.

I have flowtech and I keep burning one of my plug wires, Because it is way too close. And I am done, so, what is a good one to buy???

If your burning your plug wires then go get some 8mm cut to fit MSD's I swear they are unburnable. The other thing you can do is header wrap right at the flange.

yes I like my flowtech but they are cheap and clearances are really poor. I'm having to do remote filter setup to avoid losing the filter. I hear good things from hooker and hedman

why not buy some fancy heat covers? been in my truck for 2 years now havnt burned a wire since.
I second that...The Jimmy I just got has a set in the console...I will be putting them on when I fix the header leak.....They are soft and won't create a clearance problem but they do protect well...these look almost exactly like the ones we used on our airplane engine....

dunno what you consider cheap, but i have absolutely no complaints with my edelbrock TES headers. they were the main choice for me due to emissions regs, but they performed very well, and were a direct bolt on with no issues. I would however go with coated ones, the black paint on them did not hold up long on the ones i bought. everything else though, was fantastic.

I bought hookers for my monte carlo when I had it and they were badass. I'll probably be getting midlength hookers when I redo my exhaust.

Are the flanges on the edels thick? Are they pron to leak...I think I want to swap mine the have thin flanges that I am sure will always blow gaskets...I'm gonna fix it his time( I just got it and want to put a bb in so I want to get by utill I do....no use buying new ones if I will swap engines later)

I'm running Hedman 69230 (long tube, painted, ball&socket) and haven't had any clearance problems, I'm running Accel super stock (custom lengths) wires cuz a stock set wouldn't ever fit correctly. I'm gonna pull em to paint them with some high heat black eventually, but for now they are doing great.

i have headmans also( call around for the best price, check summit and jegs also), they fit great and last a long time, good warranty on defects. i also have those moroso heat sleaves on the wires that are close.....(i have angle plug heads and the headers i have are the ones with 1 5/8 flow tubes and a 3in ball flange)

I have the heavier wall ceramic coated headmans with the ball and socket on my 73 and they are great. No leaks, fit very nice, and with accel header plugs I have never burned a wire. Got them a couple years from summit racing for around $250. These headers with the cheap thrush mufflers sound very nice :)

somewhat of a hijack but any opinions on the Summit brand ceramic coated headers? Been thinking about a set (plan to run corvette sidepipes) and i want long tube headers. I'll edit back with a part number when I find it.

Edit: summits part number is SUM-G9006-9
