Hi Guys. I am still looking for the part of the fold-forward passenger seat that bolts to the floor. My seat folds up toward the window, but I am missing the two bolt (I think?) piece to latch it to the floor. If you have one, let me know and I'll buy it from ya. Heck, if you even have a photo of it, I would like to see it. There are NO blazers or Jimmy's out here in Junkyards, so I am out of luck unless someone here has one. just PM me.
Thanks!
Eric

Hi,

I called the guy I normally do for this stuff and it turns out to be one of those super-hard-to-find things that even he doesn't have any of.

I'll get a picture of it for you. It looks like it might be fairly simple to fabricate.

That would be great, thanks. I know it must have two bolt holes but I cant visualize how it would latch. I'm thinking of getting a welder, would that help me in making one?

Nah, you don't need a welder. It's actually just a sheetmetal piece that kinda looks like this:

(ignore the three dots)

There's a big hole on top and one on the side for the latch pin to engage and some holes for the floor. And there's two sets of mounting holes in the floor depending on whether your truck had bucket seats or a bench seat in front. The holes that weren't used just aren't drilled in the floor, but the nuts should be welded underneath. (Mine were)

I might even be able to measure mine and fab one up for you as a trade for your tach. (Unless you find one sooner) It depends on how authentic you want to be.

Hi Brian. I havent had any luck finding one. I can picture what you are talking about and I dont care about authenticity at this point. I would rather have a fabbed one than none at all. If you could make one and send it to me, that that would be great, or if you can give me measurements I could do it, I think. So basically, I need a flat strip of steel I can make four 90 degree bends in and drill four holes, right? How thick is the metal? I'm trying to think of metal that would be thick enough to last but thin enough to bend...

Here's a couple pics. It looks to be 1/16" steel (maybe a little thicker). I don't see why you couldn't make it from thicker material though. There's a big tapered hole on top for the big pin on the bottom of the seat. Then there's a hole on the side for the latch bar to lock it down. The other two holes bolt it to the floor.

When I look at it, it's kinda sketchy if you think about how it's supposed to hold the seat down in an accident. :) But the seat belt appear to actually hold you against the seat and keeps the seat from folding forward in an accident.

Let me take stab at fabbing it today. The tougher part would be the tapered hole on top which is really useful as it guides the seat pin down and lines it up as it locks down. I have a hydraulic press that can create that form pretty well. And if someone comes out and offers one for sale, I can put it up on ebay as a repro.

Those are great photos, thanks! Yeah, I dont think I could make that tapered hole... The rest would be pretty straightforward, but I dont have a hydraulic press . You know, in searching this site, there are other people who have needed this part. I bet you could sell a bunch of these to people if you are able to makle them. Nobody is selling these. I have checked LMC, CLassic, Golden State, Brothers, and a bunch of other aftermarket places. You could have the market all to yourself!

Does anyone know what year they used this same bracket up to? Would one from a 75 work as well? They still had the full convertible top that year, right? Were they still using the same seat brackets?:dunno:

They did? I havent seen the passenger seat '73 on. Do they not fold forward anymore? I would have thought they would have stayed with the same design until '76, when they changed the top.

Hey man.... if you wanna wait around about two weeks... im changing out my seats and i will sell you my brackets if you dont find any in the meantime.
