I have a problem with my dd. It is a 96 s10 blazer, 4.3, auto, and 4x4 with 182k on it. The problem started about 3 days ago on the way home from work. I drive about 45 miles each way. The problem starts about 5 miles into my trip (either way) and lasts for about 2 miles, then goes away and is fine for the rest of the trip. It all of a sudden starts shaking like one of my tires is way out of balance. Once it starts it will do it at any speed. I thought it might be the trans so today when it did it I went from od into drive (still did it), even put in netrual and let it coast (still did it). Its hard to tell where it is coming from. Maybe the front? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Brake caliper hanging up, not releasing, dragging?

or

Do you have any fix-a-flat in one of the tires? This one is unlikely as I think the unbalance would last alot longer and begin right from the start.

No fix-a-flat. Tires are less than a year old. Not sure about a brake problem? It doesn't pull in any direction when it does it. Could it be a wheel bearing? One of them has been humming for a while now.

Maybe it's not the bearing humming, could be the caliper hanging up. I would think if it was the bearing causing this it wouldn't go away, and if it (the bearing) WAS that bad the wheel would have removed itself by now.

Would a caliper hanging up make the truck start shaking, but not pull one way or the other?

Well you were right. Driverside front caliper was hanging up. Put a new one on yesterday and everything seems fine. Thanks for the help.
