Hey all...I am doing a header/head/etc.. job on my 87K5 and when pulling the dipstick tube out of the block to pull the headers I snapped it in two. I got the busted half out of the block but now I am stuck without a tube. I have looked everywhere for a replacement and cant anything. The stock tube is roughly 30" long...what have you guys been using as replacements, a place to find one?...maybe a brand to look for. I need help, I am so close to getting the truck running again and this is the only thing in my way.

pick n pull, see them there all the time, way cheaper then the stealership. When im building a motor, i just order those from summit. Stay away from chrome ones, they fit like crap.

AFAIK no one makes a chrome tube for a passenger side dipstick. I think i paid $18.00 for the tube brand new from the dealer.

I paid around $20 for a new tube and new dipstick on my old suburban from the dealer last yr.

Sweet, I didnt even think about the dealer for some reason. I will give them a call monday. Thanks guys.

Dealer, dealer, dealer. The aftermarket tranny one I got didn't fit for squat, and the dealer had them in stock and the same cost as the aftermarket. I'm sure the same goes for engine dipsticks.

yeah just go with the dealer...I snapped the tip of my dip stick off and it fell down in the engine...I dropped the pan and luckily found it so I went and bought a new one that was supposedly a perfect fit (a chrome one from the parts shop) and it fit terribly...so yeah another vote for the dealer...
