I am getting a little discouraged with the Blazer that I even considered selling it for now and getting a motorcycle. What does everyone else do when slow projects get them down?

:1zhelp:

sell it and then buy a new one and remember how bad it sucked to sell the old one.

Ya just have to be dedicated to it no matter what. I have been building my truck for probably 5 years. Still getting at it and still want to. Why are you getting discouraged?

Yeah I am on two years right now and I feel like I haven't made any real headway.

I guess I just need to set it aside for now and remember why I bought it in the first place. :o

Leave it in the garage (if it fits), pile crap on top of it, inside of it, and along side of it...

then...

procrastinate...

procrastinate...

thats how i have avoided selling my landcruiser for the last couple of years. Feels kind of like an anchor around my neck, but pretty ****in cool as far as anchors go...

Lol Yeah I guess that would be. I think I could squeeze it in there if I left my new DD out in the drive.

dont buy into all the dana 60 14b bs and put some tires and a little lift with some sawzall and go wheel it. If its money, heck dont worry about it, the money will come someday. But if your just building to over build, stop and wheel it. mine has been put on hold a few times due to money, but I just keep plugging away at some of the small things now. Beerchris put that in my head :D

Thats a good way to look at it. LOL I forget I HAVE a DD now. LOL

**** I need to beat this thing up as is.

I get OCD about always feeling like I need the biggest baddest parts out there. :( i should be focusing on having fun with it.

yeah man, we all get that way sometimes. Just remember that wheeling on 33's or even stock is still hella fun. and if youre on a budget, try not to bite off alot at once and end up with a pile of parts without the funds needed to advance with the project.

If only I could learn from the times Ive tried to do too much at once.

That is why my toyota is still in the garage and not out on the trails... Spent 2 years gathering parts, and now so out of steam that I don't want to put it together. Meanwhile the Blazer has been getting driven, broken, rebuilt, beaten on, improved, rebroken, driven some more...

Actually, that truck has really impressed me with the amount of abuse you can put into some of the smaller stuff...

Sometimes thats the ticket. Take a break. Get it out of site and out of mind for a little while.

...Get tired of washing the DD all the time because of the truck in the garage- motovation.

Yeah I want to build the baddest ass rig I can with the best parts I can throw at it and machine and fab for it. I'm insane like that though I guess :D. I LOVE the build too. It's the machinist in me. As much as I get frustrated at times for not having the money or time or whatever, I LOVE my K5 and WILL finish it someday. It's my goal to go wheel it with my son and for him to see the time and dedication it takes to do what I'm doing. I show him all the parts I make and how I make them. He always digs it when I show him.

Just do little things to it. As Dean said just get it running, don't go hog wild with all the one tone stuff and all that.

Man I had that feeling as I was building mine. And really, I was lucky. I had over 20 grand to throw at it, for buying parts, realizing i didn't want em, selling for less, then re buying other ****. After I finished it the first time, with 4" lift, vortec engine, and 35" pro comp xterrains, i daily drove it, never wheeled it because it was my only vehicle. Then when i got back from Iraq the second time I decided that I wanted an all out beast, so i pulled it apart, got all the stuff, and now I wish I had just kept the money, tossed a 14b SF with a locker in it, and drove the piss out of it. I mean, i have four freakin shifter nobs in the cab! lol. The build was fun, but if i could do it all over, would kept it the way it was. Anywho, my point is this, dont bother over building it, just drive the damn thing. Upgrade as needed.

Builder brunout here...

Wheelin is the answer, and stock is just as fun.

I understand fully. I have to keep reminding myself is that now the Blaze isn't my only transportation and if something breaks I still have a vehicle.

now to fix the steering and a tune up and go wheeling......well once it warms up. Heater never worked either. LOL

Hey man, it was four years from the time I started on my ugly Camaro till the time I finally got to drive it! Then it was only on the road two days and I popped the transmission... I got discouraged, but after finally getting it fixed (again), I managed to drive it all summer and it's a blast.

I'm wheeling my DD Cherokee right now. It's on 31's. I've got to build a motor for my K5 because the 305 is trashed. I was thinking about the 383 I had planned to build, but that's out of my budget right now. I'm just going to stick together one of the good, factory bore 350's I've got and plug it in, then start piddling with getting the body back in shape. Probably stick my 31" mud tires I use on the Jeep under it, weld the rear (got extra 12B's laying around) and start beating it while I get more parts together for the lift/t-case swap. That way I know WHY I'm gathering parts.

Ya, I've got my K5 torn down and it has been that way for a couple of years. Threw my truck and the wife's car out of the garage and work on it as time/money permits. I have done a lot of work to the frame and drive train that I wanted to do, but was not really a necessity. This really bogged the project down and sucked up a lot of money that I could have used on other things. I have fallen victim to the "overbuilding syndrome" and have decided to rethink the rebuild. I have simplified the rest of my plans, to get the Blazer back on the road ASAP, because I really miss cruising/wheeling with no top on.....that's why I bought it in the first place. I think you have the right attitude, beat it up the way it is and get the bike. You can always restart the build later.

Yep. I've spent thousands and thousands on vehicles and never wheeled them or enjoyed them as much as others I've just driven and had available at a moment's notice.

As far as when I get the "blah's"
-Do something else. I know you have other hobbies.
-Do some of the little things you can get out of the way. "Pick the low hanging fruit." Etc.
-Sell it and then live on here as a truckless Lounge rat.;)
