I have to write a classification essay for english. Well, what better to classify things then 4WD trucks (and blazers!). So far I have came up with 8 categories.

STOCK TRUCKS (stock, obviously)
LIGHTLY MODIFIED (mild lift and other 4wd acc.)
HEAVILY MODIFIED(caged, trick suspension, tapered, bobbed, different axles ect. BUT still street driven)
TRAIL RIGS ( basically heavily modified, BUT only trailered)
ROCK BUGGIES (those built strictly for rocks, comp etc. NOT street driven)
MUD TRUCKS (built only for the mud)
SHOW TRUCKS (im sure you all know what show trucks are)
MONSTER TRUCKS

So these are the 8 categories I cam up with. Remember each is Mutually Exclusive, meaning if it fits into one category, it CAN'T fin into another.

DO you guys think this pretty well covers all types of 4wd out there (im not talking about vehicles like the Cayenne, bu tthat would go under stock). If its good Im going to start a poll, if I can figure out how to.

Thanks in advance! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gifBetter add car crushing, high flying, extreme HP monster trucks.

mall cruisers /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif
tow rigs /forums/images/graemlins/crewcab.gif
rice eaters /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

MOnster tucks, HMMM, not a bad idea.

I didnt want to include tow rigs as their own classifcation. They could go under stock trucks. Mal cruisers, I suppose would go under Show trucks (even I thought I dont consider them that).

Rice eaters...hmmm...I think that would fit in ALL the categories!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

sand rigs... rails, buggys, whatever.

also, how about those crazy icelandic ummm... hill racers. lol! not sure what you'll call em... they basically race up super steep-loose piles of volcanic shale stuff. Crazy rigs, they hammer down and just fly/bounce all over. Saw em on history channel once...

If the can only belong in ONE catagory... how can you have stock/light/heavily modified and also rock/mud.

Mud and rock have to also end up in one of the stock/light/heavily modified catagories. I would classify mine as a mud truck first.... and also heavily modified.

Yeah sand rails and buggies, I was thinking they were 2wd, but I suppose I could add them.

Yeah I understand what you mean. I meant heavily modified as basically, built for trails and rocks, bobbed, tapered, truggys, ect. Not inteded for mud use.

Muybe I should all midly modified? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thats why I asked for everyones input.

I wanna know how you steer your truck with two 14 bolts in it.

It's a custom built job. Excellent pictures in his webshots account. Good try, though /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I was condidering 4wd in general, not specifically trucks.

Military is a good idea. This is getting harder.

How about "dorky 4wds" Like jeeps and trackers, zukis, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

HAHA Yeah they'd go in stock class. I think those are the groups Ill use. I dont want to get too many. Hes not into trucks by anymeans, so if maybe one isnt mutually exclusive, well, I dont care anymore, haha. Last time I wrote somethign about trucks, he basically didn't understand and marked everyhitng wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I had to explain it to him, then rewrite it. Im planning on doing the same on this essay. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would classify every thing for its intended purpose.
If you classify them based on light, med.,hev., that would actualy be a sub-categorie. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ditto!

Stock
or
Modified
Rock: Street Legal/Not

Dirt: Mud: Street Legal/Not
Dirt: Sand: Street Legal/Not

Car Crusher: Not(legal)

I dunno, that's what I see... /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Rescue Vehicles
Emergency Vehicles (law enforcement, fire)
Industrial rigs (oil exploration, jungle exploration, post hole drilling, etc.)
