I am thinking about doing a custom setup on my 75 K5 blazer. What I plan on doing is installing the 94-99 Full size grill/headlights on a 90-91front fenders/hood and clip.

Does anyone have a good front shot of their blazer? I need to photoshop the new front end so I can decide if it is going to look good before I go through all the custom troubles.

Thanks,
Brian Herron

cool, I'll use that front pic.

this is the grill I plan on using. I know it's not going to be abolt on upgrade, but I really like this style the best of all years.

Ya, it's a nice grill, but my '79 is one mean looking turkey

. But '79's have to be lifted to look mean.

yea you guys are going to hate me. Here's what the blazer looked like when I bought it.

But since then I've gotten stock tires and I'm dropping it back to factory ride height this weekend.

I've got everything for the 350TPI (including enlarged runners and a fully ported plenum), and I'm working on the 383 kit. I was going to run a single turbo to the 350, but the 383 is a bit cheaper, and I can always do the turbo later for even more power.

The body is going to go through a complete change. I'm updating the front end and rear bumper. I'm filling the seams in the removable top and doing fiberglass work so it looks like it is a part of the car (looks non-removable but really comes off). It will be painted to match the body too.

Also, I think I've found a complete dash out of a 95 full size pickup. While the engine is apart, I'm going to upgrade the dash and steering wheel to the 95. I've measured and the nice 60/40 split bench out of newer cheyenne's will fit in front. I'll be making a custom frame for a removable (fold away/hide away) short rear seat, and installing a custom pan in the floor so rear passengers have leg room.

If that's not enough you should see the whole list. It's rediculous! I'm not on this board for exactly the same purpose as most of you, but I appreciate the good information and frequently read the postings.

Why didn't you keep the lift?

That pic looks familiar. Didn't you just buy that rig recently?

It's a great day to be alive...

Did they ever fix the problem with the cheapy chrome plated plastic peeling off of these things? I'm only familiar with the '88 up to whenever, if ever, they changed, but my buddies '88 peeled right off, and most others I notice are peeling as well. Just something to think about I guess, it starts to look real tacky. First I was going to say I can't believe GM did that, but I changed my mind : )

No anti-theft measures on your truck? No pity when its stolen

the truck was lifted with blocks in the rear, and diffrent leaf springs up front.

For right now, the lift has to come off so it fits in my garage to do all the work.

Eventually it will probably get a complete suspension overhaul, but I am not crazy about leaf springs. I'd really like to find a suspension that has adjustable ride height (air ride) but I haven't done enough research on it yet. I have no intention of droping it below factory height, but it would be nice to get it to lift at the flip of a switch.

replying to other questions, yes it was purchased recently. I picked it up in march and had it towed half way across the country =)

also, in response to the chome. I already have a 94 grill I picked up with some miles on it. It dosen't look bad, but I suppose peeling would be possible... although the grill is completley plastic. I was probably going to sand down the chrome (it's really just a plastic grill) and paint over it with either the new body color (midnight blue) or black. That problem will be addressed when I am ready to start painting.

Thanks everyone...

I don't understand.

Why are you lowering it? What are you gonna use the 4x4 for? Why? Why? Why?

LOL Dorian...I can believe almost anything GM did now!

There is a company out there that sells a fiberglass frontend(maybe 1 piece) that is a 88+ p/u clip that bolts right up to the older body styles...

Not sure what company it was though.. Maybe Glassworks?

Why put in all that work to lower it? If its lifted keep it as it is.
Mine doesn't fit in the garage and I work on it all the time outside. Even during the winters here in Michigan.

hey 75k5 the 90-91 fenders on ak5 are the same as 81-91 but that grill will not fit in them unless u sut all the sides off
the grill on the 81-91 does not rolll around the edges of the front fender like the 94-99 so i wont fit the fenders from a 81-91 you would be best to go with a complete front clip off a 88-91

I was thinking about getting the newer (90-91) fenders, radiator support, hood, and all of the items necessary to do that conversion, less the grill and headlights. I'll use the grill and headlights, and do some custom body work to make them all look factory..

check this pic out, Frizzlefry sent me this today. This is kinda the look I am going for, except for some diffrences in the hood/fenders, and I would also use the bumper. But you can kinda get the idea...

I found that pic on somebodys site but I cant remember where.

All work and no beer makes Frizz a dull boy

I checked the links above for the "new style" fiberglass front end that was pictured on the white blazer in one of the previous posts but didn't find it. Anybody else know where to look? I like it except for the odd "flare" right above the front tire!

thanks
