My s-i-l has a 99 Silverado 4x4 (nbs)...it won't steer to the left unless it's rolling.

turns right just fine...We checked the fluid level, jacked it up and bled the system as per the haynes manual, I crawled under it checked for anything obvious, everything looked o.k., nothing was overly loose...

I thought about the belt, I turned on the a.c., same symptoms were there. No belt squeel...

I'm sure it's something simple & obvious, I'm just not seeing it...any ideas?:dunno:

..well, some further research has shown the 98-99 trucks (4x4) had issues with the steering box. They would bind up after time...:dunno:

Gonna swap it out in the morning...

I've been driving a long time...several decades...:eek1: (ouch)

First time I've ever seen a steering box go bad....:dunno:

You nailed it. Usually hard one way is a box. Now the pumps get weak too. But that's typical both ways.

S-i-l is getting a lesson on not listening to the old guy..:haha::haha::haha:

Told him how to get the center link off the pitman arm, he did tried it his way

about an hour later he asked me if I had any more ideas, just repeated what I told him earlier...seemed to make more sense to him the second time...:haha:
