Hello,
I just got a new starter that is 3 post. My old one was only 2 post. what does that extra post for?
Thanks
Adam

Its an unused post, you just use the battery post and the post that is closest to the motor(can't remember the letter that is next to it off the top of my head).

I just got done installing a new starter with 3 post. Well when I try to crank the engine it sounds like it just sparks.

What is going on?
Thanks
Adam

Your battery wire goes to the big post like normal, then all your ignition system wires (which I believe there is 2 wires - at least there is only 2 on mine) goes to that 1 post that is closest to the engine block. The post that is closest to your tire is not used.

And make sure no wires or connections are touching anything but what they are suppose to be touching.

There are two wires running to my pos post (battery and another wire.)

Then there is the (-) wire that is connected to the post right by the block.
Thanks
Adam

The battery is dead but it should not make it sound like it is sparking. I tryed jumping the truck and nothing happened.

Thanks
Adam
