My conundrum. Its a good read :D

I want to run a CV shaft front and rear in my new s10 project. I dont have the truck yet but seeing as how I grabbed the Tcase for such I good deal I figured I would start knocking out some little to do things.

So this build is all about budget in the right spots. Some areas I'll be splurging and some I'll be holding myself back.

My first score before I even bought a truck was a 90 np241c passenger drop with VSS. I scored this thing with a JB conversions SYE and a professional rebuild on it for $150. He even threw in the old professionally made rear shaft which I'll probably sell on here.

So yesterday I started cleaning up this beyotch. I took the rear yoke and front flange to see how difficult my budget rear cv was going to be to accomplish. The first thing I notices is that the rear seal that came in the JB kit is a cheesy single lip seal. The second thing I noticed is that the yoke that came in the kit isnt your standard 1-7/8s OD seal surface. In fact its pretty damn big. It measured to 2.12 inches...

So now I have a rear output that wants to accept yokes and flanges that are WAY bigger than the typical one. In fact JB the company that makes the kit doesnt even offer a flange that has a 2.12in seal surface which leads me to believe that that seal is specific to that 1310 yoke.

The difficult side of me says well I'll get a 1-7/8s ID piece of tube or pipe, get it read hot and sleeve a stock flange, then get it turned to 2.10 in, wah lah.

Then I thought to myself I'm really over complicating this. Why dont I just get a seal with the same OD as the original but with a 1-7/8s ID. I mean its a super common ID for a seal and I doubt the OD on the original is something oddball. The problem I have it I dont have a part number for the stock seal so I can start researching. I tried calling JB but got no answer so I was wondering if anyone has a hard copy of their directions because its suppose to be in there.

Thoughts? Comments? Huge mistakes i'm making?

So JB conversion answered their phone. Guess they got in late...

I tell the lady what I need and she gives me a part number for a 1-7/8ths ID yoke/flange. I explain to her that my seal I have now is way bigger and want to know if this one will fit or if the bearing retainer/seal cut is different.

She says she has no idea and shes gonna have to have a tech call me....

At least I got a part number.

1.875 ID X 2.75 OD

Is there any chance of my finding a double lip seal that will fit without machining the seal surface deeper?
