planning on picking up a dana 60 tomorrow. i have some questions first.

1. he said its from a 1989 Chevy R/V 3500, will this work with my 1986 k5?
2. he said he would sell it for 300 dollars is this a good deal? he also said it has 85,000 miles on it original.
3.and what do i want to look for when going to look at it? im planning on rebuilding the kingpins, ect.

petty sure a DRW suburban was never manufactured, and they never made a 3500 blazer. For 300 Bucks a actual dana 60 is the deal of the century. Id be weary that is in fact a dana 44 , just because who in their right mind would sell it so damn cheap when fair market value is 1k +/- 200$. So the dead give aways are what you need to check for i.e. kingpins and not balljoints, the 60F cast into the housing. And not visually damaged. More will chime in im sure.
Hell of a deal, good luck bro

drw dana 60 still 300 is cheep. if you run unmodifyed h1 rims you be fine on the front. or get srw hubs to convert and be fine.

the whole package for 800 would be sweet. 454 and sm465/205 i would grab all of it if me. oh ya and hydro clutch stuff . see if he has the brake/clutch pedel assembly also.

so whats the difference between drw dana 60 and the srw? is it something that would be cheap to convert? is it not worth the cost, i can all ways wait.

i all ready have a running drivetrain. i was mostly looking to upgrade axles since i all ready have a 14bff.

thanks for all the help. im always trying to figure out what im going to get before i get it but some times i just get to inpatiant

The trans in the picture is a 465. The 420 is an older model trans.

you have srw now on your 1/2-3/4 ton stuff.

srw = single rear wheel. 2 wheels on the rear total.

the axle in the pic is setup for drw .

drw = dulley rear wheels. 4 wheels on the rear total.

its easy to convert. but you are looking at around 350-400 for a pair of srw hub/rotor units to pop on there. thats all you need .

so 300 axle + 400 srw hub/rotors = 700 range. still not bad.

or you run the drw dana 60 front and swap in a wide drw dana 70 and or bolt on some wheel spacers and get h1 rims and be good to go.

4" per side basicly.

and its just the hub/rotor unit. not the housing . no other diffrences.

just swap hub/rotor units and its a srw axle. bam easy as pie.

I was going to say if you don't buy it, it would be sold real quick!!! TO ME!

Good score if it is a DRW I have found SRW hubs for pretty cheap from time to time

do you think it would be cheaper to machine them? or just find used parts

There is debate to the safeness of that approach, the SRW hubs have much more material at their wheel mounting surface than the machined DRW would and GM apparently felt that was necessary when they designed it.
