Has anybody ever taken a steering wheel off without a puller:crazy:, there is no way to use it as I can only use one hole because the other one across from it is well..... f@*&%d to say the least.:( I tried half the day yesterday and this morning and have had no luck

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated:bow::bow::bow:

Thanks

Bring it here and i'll have it off in about 10 seconds. :D

Seriously, it isn't that hard to remove. Just prop yourself into a position that you can get your knees/legs against the back bottom side of the steering wheel and then start wiggling it from the top and bottom with your hands and knees/legs.

I must have done it that way for 15 years before i finally bought the proper tool for the job. In all those years there was only 1 steering wheel i couldn't remove.

Put the nut back on enough to protect the threaded portion of the steering shaft. Hit with a hammer while pulling back. Pull towards you from different positions on the steering wheel so it doesn't start moving and get cocked/stuck.

This is a painful way to do it, but if you can't just pull it off, about the easiest way I know of.

Got a welder?? Weld a thin peice of pipe to it. slide a bigger thick piece of pipe of that that's only about 1/4 of the length of the original, then weld a big nut to the end of your thin pipe.... Now you've got a slid hammer welded right to it... Thats how i did it the first few times anyways... till i realized autozone rented tools, lol

I actually just got my OWN welder finally:D!!! Do you have a pic of one these creations by chance?:wink1:

I used what I think was a "2 prong/arm" gear puller and used the arms on the outside of the steering wheel hub and it came right off. Just food for thought.

hit the back of it with a rubber mallet, alternating sides so that it doesn't jam crooked. and don't sit in the seat while you do it. that will leave a really funny bruise on your face when it pops off.

I dont know what kind of a puller people usually use, but I used a Vibration Damper Puller fliped upside down with longer bolts... Works perfectly!!!:D

man, you guys do it the fancy way. i just remove the nut, then put it back on a few threads. then i just grab the wheel and jerk like hell for about 5 sec, and it comes right off every time. just be sure you leave that nut on so you dont crack your face with it.
