Rear axle problem.
So I was taken on a sale :doah::doah::doah:! Thought I was getting 4.56 gears with a detroit locker with the 14 bsf axle I got with the parts blazer I bought. Well come to find out its got 4.10's and its open:eek1:. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed. So after inspecting it some more, I find the spider gears to be completly chewed up. I want to find a fast and cheap solution. I don't want to weld them. I would be open to a spool if I could find one. Been looking for hours and can't find anything. Been looking at the lock right lockers, but don't know how long it would last in my rig. Engine will only be at about 300 hp, but I plan on running 37's. Will this last or will I just eat it up shortly? Trust me I know that a new set of gears and a detroit or arb locker would be the smart route to take, but I'm strapped for cash right now (just found out last week, that i'm gonna be a dad this coming april :D). So whats my best bet to get this thing going, and where can I get these parts?

Front axle problem.
The front is a 10 bolt with 4.10's as well. The spider gears look decent in the front, but the ring gear has a broken tooth. Where is the best place to get a new ring and pinion set and a pinion bearing to go with?

Any help you guys could give me would be awesome. I need to order this tomorrow so I can over night the stuff so I can get done with the axles this weekend.:waytogo:

Well I just solved my problem. I ordered a Lock Right Locker for the rear. I also ordered a 4.10 ring and pinion set along with the install kit to put the gears in. I've never replaced gears before, but I think that I will be able to figure it out. The Lock Right should be easy since you only have to remove the axles, carrier, and internals. I allready have the front axle apart, and from the tech articles that I've read I should be able to do it. I have all the tools (and an unlce that owns a part store and knows how to do it. lol) and plenty of patience. It doesn't look like there is a sticky on this subject, so I will take a lot of photos of the process and make a write up so I can give something back to the forum. Should have the parts by friday, and I have a 4 day weekend, so I should have no excuse not to finish. I hope to have both axles under my truck by the time the sun goes down monday. Hopefully thats not just wishful thinking. If anyone has any tips they want to throw my way I would appreciate it.:waytogo:

Have you put your boot up the seller's ass yet? I think that'd be step one...

Going to have a chat with him after work, as a matter of fact! I'm not mad about the gears being bad (thats a chance you take when buying used parts), but I am very mad that they are not 4.56 gears and there is no locker. Total bill for the front gears and install kit plus the lock right for the rear is $761. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but still hard to explain to the wifey:rolleyes:.

Guessing the ratio wrong is bad enough, but "guessing" you have a Detroit locker is inexcusable.

I know I know:doah:! I deserve to be beat :haha:! You live and you learn I guess. Some lessons are just learned more than others.
