Need help Getrag NV3500 or NV4500?

Help! I have a 64 suburban, i'm converting it to 4 wheel drive, I want a 5 speed manual transmition. I know little about the NV3500 or the NV4500 except that the housings are differrent. One is aluminum and one is cast iron. I want to use it with a np205. However I wonder if it will work with a 203, because I currently have one of thoughs. I just really want to know which one is better? Thanks alot!

NV4500 hands down. A 203 can have the face redrilled so it'll bolt up behind the NV4500. You will need a short 32 spline input for the 203 though.

The NV3500 is on the lighter side of truck transmissions. The NV4500 is way stronger and has a lower first gear (there are two different versions and both have a lower first gear). I have no idea which Getrag transmission you are considering. Some of them are very stout but are probably difficult to adapt to any engine/trans you are looking at.
