I have an 88 Chevy Suburban I'm in AZ and it's starting to get cold and I noticed my suburban is acting funny. Now it's a tbi does it need to be warmed up in the morning s? When I don't and I press the gas the peddle goes down but the suburban seems not have power until a few seconds in other words it sputters before it actually goes any advice or help would be great thanks

Can be a few things. Sounds mainly related to fuel/air. Coolant temp sensor causing a rich mixture, low fuel pressure, etc. Is it throwing any codes and can you check the fuel pressure?

Brand new temp sensor not even 3 months old tht would be an obd 1 right? Fuel pressure check I haven't done will check into it thanks replaced the sensor next to the thermostat and the one on the side of the block and the iac valve to but all. But it I noticed it started with the weather Idk

Does it sputter even after being warmed up, or only when it's cold?

And yes, all engines should be warmed up somewhat before you go slamming them in gear and running down the road :D

I hear people all the time, slamming the gearshift into gear almost as soon as the key is released from starting.

When it's warmed up it acts fine from what I notice but is there anything that I can do to help it

Well I bought the fuel pressure regulator today ima get it done when I get off hopefully tht fixes my problem

A fuel pressure regulator seems to be grasping at straws, have you checked fuel pressure?

FPR works the same whether it engine is hot or cold, no logical reason it would affect engine operation only when cold. Might be something to do with fuel pressure, but a fuel pressure check (autozone loans the tool for free) should be the first step if something in the fuel system is suspect.

Going to get expensive and frustrating quick throwing parts at it, how much have you spent thus far?

Ok well I did buy the FPR but did not install it I work at AutoZone but every body was saying it was the FPR so ive spent $35.00 on it so far which im getting back I started looking at it in the parking lot at work and it seems to be that two vacuum lines where off who ever had it before me had that **** rigged up and had wire loom over the vacuum lines the burban just purs now. oh yeah and $4.00 dollars for some carb cleaner got the hose for free:D:D

Glad you got it fixed!

Should help you out in the future...don't fret about the mysterious electrical crap, start with the basics, usually you'll find the problem long before you find a bad sensor, injector, etc.
