Hey all, I'm cleaning up a radio for my truck. I replaced the main bulb that lights up the dial display with an led light, but realized today I need a second bulb to light up the "stereo" light.

It looks like it says "X 14***5mA ALBA". Where the *** are is right where there's a solder blob, so I have no idea what it says. It's about 14mm long and the base has a diameter of 4.8mm (5.7mm at the nubs).

I'm at a loss as to what to look for. I'd like an led as well if I can find one.

This is what the radio looks like right now after I cleaned it and painted the silver trim back on. It's not perfect, but will do the job for now.

GM used to list the part number for the radio dial lamps in the owners manual..

That one looks like an #1895 bulb, some used an #1816,that has a longer straight glass instead of the rounded one like yours but may still fit & work..

Look at this and see if the VW or Toyota bulb might work.

Thanks, those all look like they're wedge bases though.

Thanks, those are the main bulb that lights up the dial. I'm looking for the tiny one that lights up the "stereo" indicator behind the numbers. I'll try to take some pictures of exactly where it goes/what I mean when I get home.

I just blew the picture up on my PC. It looks like there are numbers on it.

Saw the numbers on the post now. Can you heat the solder and wipe it off?

Here's some pictures of where this tiny bulb goes:

That black box under the dial indicator houses the receptacle for the bulb (hanging out by the knob rod with the white and green wires on it). It lights up the word "stereo". You can see in the second picture I've already replaced the main bulb with an led.

I'm sadly starting to get the feeling this smaller bulb isn't available, and definitely not as an led. The bulb I have still works, but it would have been nice to at least find a replacement for "just in case"

That is awfully small to deal with, but if you could get another to experiment with, think you'd be able to solder an led to the bulb base? I assume it's 12v.

Dropping "vintage delco radio repair" into google comes up with at least a few places that deal with these things, they'd have to know if they were still available.

I've held onto my Delco radio for a long time, but with the display and other problems (typical failed soldering I'm sure), and inability to easily communicate with modern devices, I'm just gonna swap it out for one of the retrofit aftermarket radios. I may keep a Delco around just because, but I feel the benefits of the Aftermarket makes them worth considering. Just food for thought, I totally respect staying bone stock too.

I don't think those non-digital display ones had the same problems the digital ones do though.
