need help i'm desperate

just got my lift on and all of my off road design goodies(almost 600 bucks worth and more to follow) on my 79 blazer. new tires mounted on the new wheels not even on the truck yet. headers put on ready for exhaust, am i setting the mood yet? i get to putting on the steering arm or actually taking the old one off. problem starts hard to come off ok no problem i'll heat it up a bit well to make a long story short and keep a family forum clean, the rocket scientist i got it from welded the steering arm on, after further inspection. now the axle that is on the truck has the gears, locker, and everything i want. is there a misalignment setup or end i can go with to solve the constant replacement of tie rod ends? its only a 4 inch lift nothing drastic. i don't do alot of crazy wheeling. i guess i would need a setup to go from the pitman to the steering arm any suggestions? thanks
 
Are you trying to put on a raised steering arm? I'm not sure what you are aksing. Sounds like you are trying to correct the steering without changing out the arm?? Is that right?
 
You are gonna have to either get that steering arm off, or swap out your axle. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Or leave it be and just buy lifetime tie rod ends from Kragen and keep replacing them. LOL I'm sure the guys at Kragen would just love that!!!
 
There has to be a reason that he welded it on in the first place. Something very, very, bad happened. I wouldn't drive it because who knows when it will fail and then BOOM you crash into a tree or even worse.
 
my dad was laughing at me . when i bought the truck the guy was telling me the front end was all re done new heavy duty tie rods new ball joints new universale he the recipts and everything had it re geared new bearings and seals locker it was awesome till i found that. i was hoping for a misalignment setup or something
 
i think this guy in his mind was making it stronger by welding it. we crawled all over it after we found that with the same thought in mind he would also put a small bead on bolts so they would not come lose instead of saftey wire or a cotter pin this dude was off the wall with stuff needless to say i have had my hands full with this truck. my torches have come in hany alot
 
Then I suppose I would advise to keep an eye on it. As far as the missalignment setup I dont know if that would be enough to correct the problem. Have you taken it to an alignment shop?
 
What about keeping your axel and just swapping out the knuckle?
 
Isn't there a dropped pitman he could use instead of the raised steering arm? At least he could leave the arm in place and still correct the steering angle that way correct? Or am I thinking wrong on this?

i agree with that. i bought my 74 and that happened to me almost ended up on the wrong side of the road in traffic. best to pull the knuckle and get a new one so you can get the raised arm
 
I have to agree with the others here. As a temp solution a dropped pitman would work, but replacing the knuckle is the best and safest solution to the issue here. It may be the most time consuming and could be the costliest solution, but safety should be the number one priority here.
 
thanks guys looks like i get to do my favorite past time junk yard surfin i might as well do it the right way. thanks again for your time and advice
